Mission Hospital of Udupi to be modernized : Dr. Sushil Jathanna

Udupi : Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital in Udupi is set to undergo major renovation and modernisation. The hospital established by Dr Eva Lombard in 1923 has well served the community of Udupi and has been a beacon of hope for many people. It is considered the oldest hospital in Udupi and was well known for its maternity and child services providing high quality care at very affordable prices.
Speaking with media persons at the Hospital Chapel, Dr Sushil Jathanna, Director of Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital said that the new ICU and the renovated and modernized wards will be inaugurated on Saturday 3rd December 2016 at 4 pm by Mr Pramod Madhwaraj, Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth. Rt Rev Mohan Manoraj, Bishop, CSI Karnataka Southern Diocese will preside over the function. DrJathanna, said that the focus will be on improving the standard and quality of care at affordable prices for the people of Udupi. All are cordially invited to grace the occassion and support the hospital in its journey towards excellence.
Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital which is a charitable hospital has now undergone the process of significant renovation and modernization to improve the facilities and services for patients in Udupi and the surrounding areas. The new modern ICU is fully equipped with the latest equipment and technology. In addition, a new ward has been renovated and modernized providing additional capacity and beds for the hospital. A new paediatric ward has also been provided and the pharmacy will now be open for 24 hours. A larger casualty and Trauma Centre with additional observation beds has been established for the convenience of patients attending for emergency care. A new Dental Unit has already been started.
Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital is the oldest hospital in Udupi established in 1923. It is well known for its maternity and child care services. The hospital has ample parking facilities and is situated in an ideal environment. All specialists are available for consultation.
The hospital is also staffed by well qualified MBBS duty doctors who provide round the clock services. He thanked the staff of the hospital who are very experienced and have served the hospital with dedication and commitment.
Dr. Shshil Jathanna said that the management is planning to establish Super Speciality Hospital in two years. We have long vision to have medical college in Udupi. In three months health card to be available to the patients. We have giving concession to poor patients, rather also can utlize the insurance, Yashasvani and other schemes also.
Dr Sushil Jathanna, a consultant physician is a native of Mangalore and has returned from the UK to his hometown after 32 years in the UK. Apart from being a physician, He is an experienced hospital management professional too having been the first Indian Chief Executive of the National Health Service in Cambridge, England. He said he wants to focus on the quality of care that is given to patients at affordable prices and requested the help and support of all well-wishers in making this hospital into one of the best hospitals in Udupi.
