Udupi: In the background of the Lok Sabha election code of conduct, 2 cases of money laundering have been detected in the district and around Rs. 8 lakhs have been seized.
Rs. 4.51 lakh at the Udyavara check post in Kapu taluk, which was being transported without documents and Rs 3.50 lakh was seized by the authorities at Shiruru Chek Post in Byndur taluk.
Valuable cloths were seized worth Rs. 79,737 which was being carried in a vehicle seized by the SST team at the Hejamadi check post of Kapu taluk.
The FS team in Hiriyadka seized the 100 liters of Toddy valued of Rs 7,500The Udupi SEN police seized 1.108 K.G. of Ganja valued of Rs 44,000 and Kundapur police station was seized 3.240 liters of liquor valued of Rs 1,440. All these cases, the cases are registered.
Udupi District deputy commissioner Dr. Vidyakumari said to the media at her court office that In Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha Constituency, 241 complaints and reports have been registered through C-VIGIL and NGRS regarding election irregularities. Out of them 238 cases were settled by District Election Commission and 5 were repeated complaints.
DC Dr. Vidyakumari said that more than 1200 non-political programmes including weddings, festivals, honors, anniversaries, concerts, cricket tournaments etc. in the district have been given permission as per the rules of the Election Commission.
