Udupi : The Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society Ltd celebrated its Silver Jubilee at Ave Maria Hall, Mother of Sorrows Church Premises here on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Aloysious D’Almeida, President of Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society was presided over the programme. Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi diocese was inaugurated the Silver Jubilee celebrations programme. The chief guests present on the dais were Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, Very Rev Fr. Charles Menezes, Parish Priest of the Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, B. Jayakar Shetty Indrali, President of Udupi District Cooperatives Union, Mary D’Souza, President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh. Meanwhile, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO)  Sandeep Fernandes, the directors Ignatius Monis, Franklin Menezes, Felix Pinto, James D’Souza, Percy J. D’Souza, Archibald S D’Souza, Kevin Periera, Smt Jacintha D’Souza, Gilbert Fernandes, Dr. Nery Cornelio and Smt Loycet Cornelio were present on the dais.

The programme was began with prayer song by the staff of the Society and followed by dance by the students of St. Mary’s Kannada Medium School, Udupi.

Aloysius D’Almeida welcomed the gathering. Sandeep Fernandes CEO briefed on the Udupi Catholic Credit Society Ltd since its establishment on December 16, 1997. Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo formally inaugurated Silver Jubilee celebrations programme by lighting the lamp.

In his inaugural address, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo pointed out the theme of society which depends on savings, distribution and growth. We are all one in deposit and distribution. The valuable service is greatly involved in business for the growth. The standard of service shows the greatness of the business. We are proud that since 25 years, Udupi Catholic Cooperative Credit Society services and distribution growth and we are happy about that. The society is reflected in the greatness of an institution. The success of any institution depends on three pillars. The dedicated administration, committed staff and satisfied customers with service.

He added that the Udupi Catholic Credit Cooperative Society has set aside some amount to be distributed to charitable organizations, financial assistance to needy students and other charitable purposes. We should happy about those services are doing by the Cooperative Society. He hopes, Udupi Catholic Cooperative Credit Society becomes one of the favorable one for the communities. 

Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo was felicitated during the occasion by the dignitaries on the dais.

Followed by, the founder promoters, founder directors, current president and vice president, CEO, the current board of directors, retired staff members and present staff members were honored during the occasion. Dr. Gerald Pinto former principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur and one of the founder promoters spoke during the occasion on behalf of felicitated personalities.

The chief guests Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rev Fr. Charles Menezes and Mary D’Souza gave their Silver Jubilee messages on the Silver Jubilee celebrations.

The Udupi Catholic Credit Cooperative Society on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee celebrations donated financially to four institutions like Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor, Mamatada Thottil, Santhekatte, Kallianpur, Roshan D’Souza Belman of Humanity Organization and Hazrat Saadat Old Age Home, Kaup.

Meanwhile, Udupi Catholic Credit Cooperative Society distributed financial assistance to 14 students of various institutions’ irrespective caste and creed.

The Sahakari Rathna Awardee B. Jayakar Shetty Indrali was felicitated during the occasion. He said that the Cooperative Societies giving competition to scheduled commercial government and private banks. The Cooperative Societies giving their services for the rural people in larger extent in the Udupi district. More than Rs. 4600 crore deposits in Cooperatives in 800 Cooperatives Societies in Udupi district and larger number of people getting benefit from the Cooperatives and supporting the poorest of the poor and other needy persons from what the Cooperatives get profit. He appreciated the Udupi Catholic Credit Cooperatives for its growth since 25 years. He also appreciated for the donation and other charitable services given to the needy.

On the occasion of silver jubilee celebrations, lucky dip prizes were distributed ten persons which were draw picked by the guests on the dais.

Vice President Louis Lobo delivered vote of thanks. Michael D’Souza compered the programme. Large number of people joined to celebrate the Silver Jubilee celebrations. The programme winded up by singing National Anthem. Bishop graced on the food which served to all the participants.
