Print Manipal 30th September 2020: Dr Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal, announced that, “with effective from 1st October 2020, Department of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery is starting at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. This had been started as per the approval of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Dr Pratap Kumar N will be heading the department and it will be functional all week days between 8.30 am to 4.00pm”.
Dr Pratap Kumar N, Professor and Head Department of Reproductive Medicine said, “Manipal Assisted Reproduction Centre (MARC) has been elevated to Department status - Department of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. This Department will continue to do work with the following facilities- Induction of Ovulation, Transvaginal Sonographic Procedures, Intrauterine insemination, In vitro fertilization with Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET) Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Laser Assisted Hatching, Vasal / Epididymal & Testicular Sperm Extraction (MESA/TESA), Egg /Sperm Donation Program, Embryo and Semen Banking, Computer Aided Sperm Analysis (CASA), Sperm DNA damage evaluation, Detection of Y Chromosome microdeletion, Laparoscopic & Hysteroscopic procedures, Comprehensive Male Infertility Evaluation and Treatment and Surrogacy”.
Dr Sharath K Rao, Dean, KMC wishes the department and said, that, with the new status we can do much more research activities and in turn will help the society.
