Manipal and Udupi serial extortion and attempted murder case at Kaup : Police arrests five persons

Udupi: Police have arrested five persons in connection with extortion of money and threatening with knife point and sniper driver on the public in the Manipal and Udupi city limits.

 

 

The accused arrested are Mohd. Asiq(19) of Mallar, Kaup, who accused in four cases that three cases of extortion of money in Manipal areas, one case of extortion of money in Udupi city limit and one attempted murder case in Kaup. The accused arrested Mohd. Asif @Rizha@ Rameez(30) of Navunda who accused for four cases. One attempted murder case at Gangulli and attempted murder case at Kaup, one assault case at Byndoor and one case on illicit ganja consumption. The accused arrested Izaz Ahmed(19) of Navunda Kundapura who accused in five cases which one attempted murder case in Kaup, two assault case in Kaup, One assault case in Byndoor and one case in illicit ganja consumption. The other accused Mishwa(22) of Navunda, Kundapur arrested for four cases, one assault case at Kaup for attempted murder and assault, one assault case in Byndoor and one case for illicit ganja consumption. Another arrested accused Dawood Ibrahim(26) of Malpe for two cases, one attempted murder and one assault case at Kaup.

 

 

In a media briefing, District Superintendent of Police N Vishnuvardhan said that on September 19, from 4 am to 6 pm, two unknown persons came in a two-wheeler in Manipal and Udupi city limits, threatening the public, using a knife and a sniper driver, extorting money, mobile phones and purses. Three cases were reported in Manipal and 1 case in Udupi.

Two separate investigation teams have been formed under Udupi Circle Inspector Shri Manjunath and Manipal Police Sub-inspector Shri Manjunath M Gowda to find the accused seriously. Accordingly, on September 26, officers of the Investigation Team tracked down Mohammed Ashiq, a resident of Kombugudde, a Kapu, accused of extortion.

 

 

Police seized the one Yamaha Bike, one sniper driver  used for extortion, One knife,  1 OPPO Company Mobile Phone. He was also arrested by the police while he was riding in the Udupi - Manipal environment as the accused was planning to pursue extortion. The accused Ashiq is involved in a murder attempt reported in Kapu after being involved and 4 extortion cases.

A bullet bike worth Rs 2 lakh which stolen from Bengaluru was also seized from the accused in the case. A strategy is in place to arrest the other accused soon.

Mohammed Ashik, a resident of Kombu Gudde, is the accused of the Kapu descent, who led the gang of gangsters called "Team Garuda" who indulged in funny incidents, night time, nightly wandering offenses can be detected.

 

The Investigation Team is under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Kumar Chandra and Udupi Police DySP Jai Shankar. The investigating team included Manipal Police PSI Manjunath M Gowda, PSI Rajasekhar Vandali, ASI Railash, Staff Prasanna, Dhoman, Razak, Salman, Adarsh, Sudeep and Udupi Circle Inspector Manjunatha, ASI Gopalakrishna, Santhosh Rathod,  Sivanand, Dinesh and Nitin of the CDR unit were the taken part in the investigation.

On September 22,  Mallar of Kaup intends to kill Abdul Sattar, a villager in the village of Guddakere, along with Mallar Kombagudde resident Ashiq and other colleagues Mohd Ashif yane Ashif Riza yane Rameez Misbha, Izaz Ahmed and Dawood Ibrahim and went to Abdul Sattar’s house. With the intention of killing Abdul Sattar who was ran away, the knife point touched to Hasanabba and he was injured at right leg when Abdul Sattar was escaped. Meanwhile, also the women of the house threatened to kill everyone, smashing the window glass of the house.  

In this case, all the accused except Mohd Ashiq were arrested near  Jaihind Junction of Udyavar by the Kapu Police Inspector and his police team. The police recovered from them two cars used for the crime, knife and sword in the cars and three mobile phones seized from the accused. The total worth seized at a price of Rs. 3,41,700/=.

The accused have been produced before the court and the accused has been given 15 days judicial custody. Further investigation has been under progress.
