Udupi : Shankar Rao, official of Navayuga Construction Company said that for no reason will the local vehicles be given exemption at Hejamady Toll gate in Udupi district.

Shankar Rao in front of the Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis who had visited the protest location on Thursday, 31^st January, where the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty Wing) and Padubidri Nagarika Samiti have been demanding exemption from toll charges since 24 days.

Moreover the official said that toll exemption will not be provided to the locals of Padubidri. Meantime, the exemption at Sasthan toll gate will also be cancelled.

The protesters at Padubidri upset with this new statement by the company official and demanded with the DC to remove the toll gate constructed at the inner road in Hejmady which joins NH66. Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis said that since there is no opportunity for that in the law, the administration of district will not give the order. I have submitted a report to the government advising Navayuga Company to be blacklisted, said DC.

Meanwhile DC assured that a decision will be taken within three days post a meeting with the government and Navayuga Company officials. The protestors informed that they will carry on with their protests. The Navayuga officials have been ordered to complete service road works within two weeks.
