Udupi : Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, Diocese of Udupi celebrated its annual feast with devotion and fervor on Wednesday, 17^th January, 2018.

Prior to the Solemn Eucharistic celebration, on the occasion of annual feast ‘Wodle Festh’, every families of the Cathedral, donors and benefactors’ were honored with a special candle by the Rector of the Cathedral, Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo. Most Rev Dr. Gerald Mathias, Bishop of Lucknow and also a parishioner led all priests, liturgy participants, Dr. Nery Cornelio and Felcy Lewis Vice President and Secretary of Parish pastoral council took out procession along with the Sunshine Brass Band of Parempally from Vicar’s house and entered the Cathedral through the main door for celebrate Annual Feast Solemn mass with large devotees.

Most Rev Dr. Gerald Mathias was the chief celebrant of the Solemn mass along with 26 priests from deanery, guests’ priests, parishioner priests, priests from other dioceses and former priests of the church.

In his homily, Rev Dr. Leslie D’Souza, parish priest of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur with the theme of “Mari Mariyecha kumken Christhi Kutumb Bandyam” . Every Christian family should be the cradle of devotion and salvation. Meanwhile, a Cathedral is also the cradle of the diocese. Mother Mary, Our Lady of Miracles is also other cradle for the devotion and salvation of our families. The Grace of God flourishes on Our Mother of Mary. We need the Grace of God. Where there is Grace of Mother Mary prevailed, there would be miracles. Mother Mary is the role model for Christian family. Where there is the Word of God serves, there would be Holy family prevailed.

Mary consecrated Jesus to God, she acknowledged that God had plan for her Son and agreed to do everything in her power to cooperate with God’s intended purpose for him. Likewise, Christian families consecrate their children to God in the Sacrament of Baptism, and promise to do everything possible to help their children do what God wants in their lives. Let, in the protection of Our Lady of Miracles, we place our total confidence and hope.

The choir under Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes enhanced the solemnity of the annual feast mass with melodious hymns supported by keyboard and violin.

The Close Circuit televisions were installed inside and outside the Cathedral for the benefit for scores of devotees. The donors who gave more than Rs. 5000 were honored with special candle by the Bishop Gerald Mathias at the end of the mass.

At the end of the solemn celebration of Eucharist, Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo conveyed greetings of the annual parish feast to all concerned. He also expressed gratitude to Bishop Gerald Mathias for concelebrating the annual parish feast as the chief celebrant. He also expressed gratitude to Rev Dr. Leslie D’Souza for his meaningful homily. He also expressed gratitude to all the concerned including parish pastoral council members, heads of educational institutions, superiors of the convents’, teachers and various religious associations of the church.

Bishop Gerald Mathias conveyed his best wishes to all the parishioners, guests, relatives and priests on the occasion. He also gave gratitude to Rector of the Cathedral for the invitation to celebrate the annual Parish Feast.

On behalf of the deanery priests and other priests, Rev Dr. Leslie D’Souza thanked the parish rector and also dean of Kallianpur Deanery and conveyed his wishes to all.

Parish ICYM, YCS, Alter Boys organized various games in the stalls. Housie games conducted also. Big Fighter Cock lucky contest held by Alter Boys. Large number of devotees of Milagres Amma offered lit the candles for Our Lady of Miracles. Since 1678 AD, large numbers of devotees with other religious faithful of Milagres have been offering candles every year during the annual feast.
