Saligrama Sri Guru Narasimha Temple gets its own sewage plant
Udupi: Srimad Yogananda Guru Narasimha temple, Saligrama in the taluk has got its sewage treatment plant.
The temple, located about 20 kilometers from Udupi has the distinction of being the first in the district to take the initiative.
Temple authorities have said that the plant had a capacity of recycling about 50,000 liters of sewage water on a daily basis. It is said that the machine was installed at a cost of Rs 28 lakh; the water after going through a few more rounds of recycling could also be used for drinking and cooking purposes.
However, the temple management has currently decided to use the water only for gardening.
The temple has a 4-acre arecanut and coconut plantation and three wells. The well water was being used for cooking and drinking purposes.
