Udupi : District Administration and the  Udupi district, Public Educational Department, Udupi district will be organized state level Karate Championship 2016-17 at Volakadu Government Composite High School from 25^th to 27^th November, 2016.

Addressing with media persons at Press Club, here on Monday, 21^st November, Amruth Shenoy, Working President of Organizing Committee, said that around 1,500 karate state level players from primary and high schools would be participating in the Karate Championship. Each district will be sending a contingent of 28 karate players of boys and girls.

The competition will be held under 14 yrs category for both boys and girls of primary school in five divisions and under 17 years category for boys and girls in nine divisions based on weight, he said.

Altogether including judges, volunteers and players around 2000 persons are expected to during the tournament.

Pramod Madhwaraj Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment will inaugurate the championship. Tanveer Sait Minister of Primary and High School Education will be the chief guest. Elected representatives of the government, president of UMC and other dignitaries will be present during the inaugural session.

The procession will be held from Jodukatte to Service bus-stand to Volakad School. After the inauguration there will be held cultural programmes which presented by Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, he said.

The valedictory programme will be held on Sunday, 27^th November at 11.30 am. Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje President of UMC will preside.

Nityananda Kemmannu Vice President of State Karate Teachers Association, Nirmala B. Headmistress of the Volakad School, Nagabhusan Shet, Raviraj Nayak, Marati P., Akash Rao, Madhukar of Educational Department, Subash, Yagnesh Acharya and other members of the organizing committee were present during the press meet.
