Udupi : The diocesan Eucharistic celebrations with procession, the feast of Christ the King and Confraternity Sunday of Mother of Sorrow Church held with thousands of devotional people at Udupi on Sunday, 20^th November, 2016.

The Solemn High mass was concelebrated by Bishop Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo along with lage clergy of about 50 priests of the diocese.

During in his homily, Bishop pointed out on the theme of the celebrations was Eucharist is Sacrament of Love, Forgiveness and sacrificing culture. Jesus sacrificed his life for the love of his people. Love is the life of faithful Christians. Cross is the sign of forgiveness. Jesus has forgiven people through his Cross. We should forgive our brothers with heart which has sacrifice of our life. Forgiveness is Christ’s formula.  Eucharist is the heart of Jesus.

The mass was followed by adoration of the Holy Eucharist led by Rev Fr. Royson Fernandes, Assistant Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi. After the Adoration the huge solemn procession began with devotees lighted candles. Bishop held the Blessed Sacrament along with two deacons on a pedestal fitted decorated vehicle. The procession proceeded towards the land of St. Mary’s School and passed through the near Harsha showroom, Ajjarkard Park Road, Jodukatte Circle, Court Road, Diana Circle and culminated at the church premises.

After the procession over, Bishop appreciated the enormous devoted response of the people, priests, and nuns’ on the diocesan annual Eucharistic procession. He gave gratitude to all concerned for the successful diocesan Eucharistic procession.

At the end, Rev Fr. Vincent Crasta announced the list of highest collection on account of Mission Sunday. St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle collected highest amount of Rs.8,38,700 which first place, Mother of Sorrows Church second, Lourdes Church, Kanajar third, St. Lawrence Minor Basilica fourth and St. John the Evangelist Church Pangala fifth place. On the basis of per person collection in parishes, St. Anthony’s Church Kuntalnagar, first place, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Nakre, Karkala Second, Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi, Third, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kanajar, Fourth and St. Lawrence Minor Basilica, Attur, Fifth place. Bishop gave memento of St. Mother Theresa to all top five parishes for the highest collections on Mission Sunday.
