Platinum Jubilee Celebration of the Church Building - An Appeal

Dear Friend,

Hearty greetings to you from the Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur. We have successfully completed three years of the establishment and declaration of Milagres Church as the Cathedral of the new Diocese of Udupi. Our Lady of Miracles, our beloved mother, has been declared the patroness of our infant diocese. Milagres Cathedral is the mother of all the churches of our diocese.

The present Church, built in 1940, completes 75 years of service to the faithful. In order to meet the felt needs of the church, the

Platinum Jubilee Committee has planned three projects to mark this historic occasion:
1.    Redesigning the Façade
2.    Repair of the Church Roof
3.    Painting of the Church
4.    House for the Poor

Our generous donors have extended their help and support in all our previous ventures. The renovation of the Tri-Centenary Hall has been completed beautifully. The Committee solicits your generous assistance in the new projects.
Need of the Projects:

1. The Façade :
The beauty and elegance of our magnificent altar evokes a sense of awe and devotion in the faithful. The beauty of the altar and the interior structure is not properly reflected in the existing façade of the church. A blue print has been prepared to give a face-lift to the facade at an estimated cost of `. 50 lakh.

2. The Church Roof:
The church roof is 75 years old and is fragile. There is seepage during the rainy season. The wooden structure as well as the tiles need immediate repair/ replacement. The roof of the cathedral will strengthened by replacing the reapers and the tiles at an estimated cost of ` 20 lakh.

3. The Painting:
The painting the cathedral will enhance the beauty of the magnificent structure and will create a conducive atmosphere for prayer, meditation and celebration of the liturgy. It will acquire a new and attractive look. The estimated cost is   `.10 lakh.

4. House for the Poor:
The plan to provide houses for the poor of the parish, who do not have a shelter of their own at a minimum of rent. The estimated cost is `. 25 Lakh.

The total cost of the Project:
Front Façade     : `. 50 Lakh
Church Roof     : `. 20 Lakh
Painting           : `. 10 Lakh
Houses            : `. 25 Lakh
