Udupi : Bharatiya Red Cross Society, Udupi District unit and Jeevan Sangersha ® Udupi jointly organized World AIDS Day inauguration at Red Cross Bhavan, Red Cross Road, Ajjarkadu here on 1^st December, 2015.

Sri. Basroor Rajeev Shetty, Chairman. Bharatiya Red Cross Society, Karnataka State and Udupi District unit presided the inaugural celebration. Ln. Sridhar D. Shenava MJF, Honorable Lions District Governor was the chief guest. Dr. Janardhan Prabhu of Hi-tech Hospital was the honorable guest present on the dais.

In his inaugural address Ln Sridhar D. Shenava said that awareness on various issues specially on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) required. Lions International providing various awareness programmes’ in different fields, like wise international organization Red Cross Society started during the war effected soldiers and for other service purpose by Henry Deunant. He wish to complete abolish of AIDS in the district and in India. In India people who get afraid for accident only 0.8 %, but more than 9% of the people get afraid for AIDS, he said.

Dr. Janardhan Prabhu prime speaker of the occasion said that people should awareness on prevention of AIDS.  Lot of funds to be needed for the abolish of AIDS. Medical, paramedical institutions, NGO’s should give more support to complete end of AIDS which will be possible when complete awareness on AIDS. He gave complete statistics on AIDS that around 3.9 crores people died with the effect of AIDS in the world which found in human in 1984, out of that around 26 lakhs children were died. Around 3.69 crores of people effected HIV and more than 1.5 lakhs of people who undergoing treatment for HIV. In India less than 1% people are effected in HIV, he said. All HIV effected people not die immediately, so we must look after them as usual in our society. Indeed we should take precaution and awareness on HIV and AIDS. We can completely abolish and wash out the HIV people, he said.

Mrs. Jyothi Sheneva, Dr. Umesh Prabhu Vice President of Red Cross Society Udupi district, Dr. Nikish C. Shetty Secretary of Red Cross Society, Veena Shetty Secretary of Jeevan Sangersha, Udupi, T. Chandrashekar Treasurer BRCS, Udupi and other officials were present.

During the occasion aid kits were distributed to the HIV patients. T. Chandrashekar welcomed the gatherings and V. G.Shetty compered the brief inaugural programme.
