Udupi, 26^th Nov. 15 : Udupi District High School Science Festival “BrainQuest 2016” will be held on Saturday, 28^th November, 2015 at Shesha Shayana Hall, Hotel Kidiyoor, here from 9am to 5pm, said Dr. Poornima Kamath Director of E-School.

She was speaking with the media persons at Udupi Press Club on Thursday, 26^th November that there are various competitions will be held as follows :

Science Quest – Science Models Display,

Model Quest – Trundle Wheel (rolling measuring device),

Product Quest – Bioplastic from potatoes,

Research Quest – Edible Science projects (Eggsperiments – Physics, Going nuts over Fruits- Chemistry/Biology,

FX Quest – Yakshagana artists visit Planet Mars.

Details of Competitions

Science Quest : Students exhibit scientific models or experiments. There are two categories: Physical Sciences and Life Sciences. First, Second and Third prizes in each category are Rs. 2000, Rs. 1000, and Rs. 500 respectively.

Model Quest : Students design a device called Trundle Wheel, to measure long distances using mathematical formula. First prize is Rs. 2000, Second prize is Rs. 1000.

Product Quest : Teams bring home Bioplastic made from potatoes and a slogan not exceeding 10 words. The team with the best quality Bioplastic and great marketing skills is the winner. First prize is Rs. 2000, second prize is Rs. 1000 and third prize is Rs. 500/.

Research Quest : Participants conduct the experiments in advance, write their observations and conclusions. They are judged based on the experimental design, reasoning and conclusions. First prize Rs. 2000 and Second Prize Rs. 1000 for each Physics as well as chemistry/Biology project.

FXQuest : Each participating team acts out the its imagination of what happens when Yakshagana artists go to Mars, without talking. Music and narration are allowed. Entertaining Value, Historical and Scientific accuracy, believable storyline and creativity in costumes/stage set will be judged. First prize Rs. 2000, second prize Rs. 1000.

The school with the highest total score (from all competitions) will get the Rolling “Srinivas M. Kamath Memorial Best of Brains or BOB” Trophy.

She said that already 220 students registered their names from 14 schools. Registrations will be open before inauguration.
