Udupi : In the presence of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy former President Kasargod Chinna, Karnataka State level Konkani Mahila Sahitya Samskriti Convention Udupi – 2015 “Konkani Matha”  will be held on Saturday, 28^th November, to Sunday, 29^th November, 2015 at Smt. Kamaladevi Chattapadyaya Vedike, Muddanna Matap, M.G.M. College, Udupi, said Dr. Sandya S. Pai Honorable President of Organizing Committee.

She was speaking to media persons at Udupi Press Club, said that prior to the inauguration in the evening flag hoisting ceremony to held at morning and from 3.15 cultural procession will be start from Rajanagana, Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt which will be inaugurated by Paryaya Sri Sri Vidyavallabha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Mutt and will be culminated at MGMCollege.

The convention will be inaugurated by Smt. Umashree, Kannada and Cultural Minister and Child Welfare Minister of Karnataka State. Smt. Padma Shenoy Konkani Matha Convention President will be the president of the convention.  

She said Dr. Shalini Prabhu of Bangalore, Aishwarya Nag film actress, Neetu film actress, Veronica Cornelio President of KSDL, Swathi Shavde, Pilot of Jet Airways, Dr. Lavanya Shanbaug noted doctor and other will be present as chief guests. 16 representatives of various Konkani speaking sects are present during the occasion.

Sabitha Monis of Moodabidri will be honoured specially during the occasion and Vandana Shanbaug Mangalore for Sports, Malathi Sagar for Drama, Vidhushi Rajashree Ullal for dance and Anuradha Dareshwar for Song will be also honoured specially.

Various cultural programmes are held during the two days of convention. Meanwhile 70 outstanding personalities like Geetha Samanth, Shaila Fernandes, Sandhya Shenoy, Geetha Wagle Bantakal, Purnima Suresh, Vimala Kamath manipal, Vidya Shyamsunder, Kusuma Nayak, Aarathi Prabhu, Shanthi Bai, k. Sharada Bhat, Cathrine Rodrigues katpady, Sulatha Kamath Katpady, Shashikala Manjunath Prabhu – these all from Udupi will be honoured.

An exhibition of Konkani books and photographs would be held. Around 5000 people are expected to participate during the two days of convention.
