Print Udupi : Karavali Bypass Nagarika Samiti members held protest meet against the proposed underpass by the National Highways Authority and demanding the construction of a flyover on the national highway at Karavali junction between Udupi and Malpe.
Bannanje Babu Amin Convener of Karavali Bypass Nagarika Samiti said that Malpe Manipal is fast developing stretch. The proposed underpass would be change the image of Udupi temple city and it will divide the city. Karavali junction under pass will be completely unscientific one. The National Highways Authority of India should install strong concrete pillars instead of sand filling one. In order to create awareness regarding the issue and so held protest.
Sri Laxmivaratheertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt also spoke and said that concerned authorities should listen the views of the public instead not favouring the cause of the people. Various leaders like Janani Diwakar Shetty of Jayakarnataka, Shantaraj Aithal, Prasadraj Kanchan and others spoke during the protest meet.
Ramesh Kanchan Udupi City Muncipal council member, Sudhakar Shetty Proprietor of Sharada Hotel International, Harish Kini Congress Leader and other leaders were present.
