Udupi : St. John the Evangelist Church, Pangala, Shankerpura emerged  as the overall Champions of the diocese level 12^th Konkani Singing Competitions organized by ICYM Pangala Church unit at Church Hall near here on Sunday, 25^th October, 2015. Meanwhile St. Peter’s Church Pethri bagged second overall Champions and St Peter’s Church, Barkur bagged the third place in over all championship.

Rev Dr. Leslie D’Souza Parish Priest of Pangala Church presided the inaugural function and inaugurated the competitions by lighting the lamp. Rev Fr. Charles Noronha of Palimar Church, YCS animator of Pangala unit Rev Fr. Vincent Coelho, Sr. Lilly Superior of Pangala Convent and Judges of the competitions Ashith Pinto, Babitha Pinto and Richard Monteiro of Mangalore were present during the inaugural function.

There were 18 parish units of 224 participants took place in the various categories like under 15 years of age boys and girls solo, and mixed group while above 15 years Men solo, Ladies Solo, mixed and Duet singing.

The valedictory took place with Rev Fr. Edwin D’Souza Director of Youth Commission Diocese of Udupi, Rev Fr. Francis Cornelio parish priest of Kalathur parish, Rev Fr, Charles Noronha of Palimar Parish, Derick Mascarenhas President of ICYM Udupi Diocese, Rev Dr. Leslie D’Souza of Pangala Church, Clara Mendonca Animator of ICYM Pangala unit, Mark Vaz Parish Pastoral council Vice President, Simi D’Souza Secretary of parish pastoral council, Franklin Martis President and Ria D’Souza Secretary of ICYM, Pangala and three judges were present on the dais.

The winners at the Under 15 category

Boys Solo ( 10 participants) : Marvel D’Souza, Udupi, Varun D’sa, Pangala, and Nelson D’Souza Kolalgiri secured first, second and third place respectively

Girls Solo (14 participants) : Vivina Lewis, Brahmavar, Reema Mathias, Kuntalnagar, Cleona Quadros Shirva secured first, second and third place respectively

Mixed Group (6 participants ): Pangala, Pethri and Barkur secured first, second and third place respectively

The winners in the Above 15 category

Men Solo (12 participants ): Praveen D’Souza, Pethri, Royston D’Souza, Kolalgiri, Manoj D’Souza, Shirva, secured first, second and third place respectively

Women Solo (15 participants ) : Deeksha Lasrado, Kalmady, Ashmitha Dsouza, Pangla, Carol Danthi Pernal secured first, second and third place respectively

Duets (10 participants ): Melvyn Monteiro and Amrutha D’silva, Katpady, Nihal Dais and Ashmitha D’Souza, Pangala, Franklin Fernandes and Janice D’Souza Barkur secured first, second and third place respectively

Mixed Group (8 participants) : Pangala, Barkur, Moodubelle secured first, second and third place respectively.

Total 18 parish units were participated. They were Pethri, Brahmavar, Barkur, Thottam and Kolalagiri of Kallianpur Deanery, Udyavar, Kalmady, Moodubelle, Katapadi, Udupi and Kuntalnagar of Udupi Deanery, Palimar, Pangala, Mukamar, Shirva and Pernal of Shirva Deanery, Padukone of Kundapur Deanery and Karkala Attur of Karkala Deanery.
