Udupi : In order to mark third anniversary of Udupi Diocese,  Establishment and Installation of First Bishop of newly established diocese, the blessing of Foundation Stones  for the three very necessary projects i.e., Pastoral Centre, Home for Retired Priests and Minor Seminary held at projected site of Pastoral Centre, Kinnimulky near here on Thursday, 15^th October, 2015.

The Pastoral centre to be installed at Kinnimulky whereas Retired Priests and Minor Seminary to be installed at Kallianpur, opposite of Milagres Cathedral. All the three projects foundation stoned laid symbolically with the blessing of foundation stones  at Kinnimulky on Thursday, 15^th October, ’15.

The foundation stone for the Home of Retired Priests was symbolically held by Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister of Karnataka State and district in charge Minister. The foundation stone for the Pastoral Centre was symbolically held by Bishop of the diocese while the foundation stone for the Mini Seminary was symbolically held by Alphonse D’Costa Secretary of Diocesan Pastoral council. Prior to the foundation stone laying ceremony Bishop blessed the all three stones for the projects. The boxes placed in between the each stones contains relic of Our Lady of Miracles, the patron, Rosary, a Cross and coin of 2015 and name of the person who laid the foundation stone.

Vinay Kumar Sorake after the laying foundation stone, said that it is his destiny to put foundation stone for the Retired priests home. With the grace of God all work has been done successfully. Christian community since 400 years in India providing various sacrifices through education, health and so on for the betterment of the society. Being in charge of Udupi District, his responsibility to help Udupi diocese and along with diocese people shall plan to visit Chief Minister soon. During the occasion of completion of third year, he conveyed his greetings to bishops, clergy and laity on his behalf and the state.

Bishop His Lordship Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo said during his message that the diocesan faithful persons put pressure on him that if the diocese want to move in the path of development most important projects shall be needed. It is people who responsible to put the foundation for the most required projects for smooth running of diocese. It is the work of Lord Jesus. It is people who said that on 15^th October during the third anniversary , foundation laying ceremony has to be materialized.

In regard to the establishment of retired priests home, it is his responsibility to provide safe and peaceful retirement for the elder priests. In regard to mini seminary, it will not possible to full pledged major seminary to establish for our diocese. It is mandatory that Minor seminary must establish in the diocese for the training for seminarians.

Earlier, the programme started with prayers led by Rev Fr. Steevan D’Souza Director of Diyva Jyothi along with choir group of Udyavara church. Msgr. Dr. Baptist Menezes gave his brief key note address and welcomed the gatherings. Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa PRO of diocese compered the best of his style of perfection and stewardship. Alphonse D’Costa proposed vote of thanks.

All deans of deaneries of diocese, Conveners of various commissions, large number of priests, vice presidents and secretaries of diocesan churches, Estate Manager Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, Rev Fr. Chetan Lobo of Uzwaad fortnightly, Veronica Cornelio President of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents, Idda Gibba D’souza ZP member and large number of laity people witnessed the ceremonies.
