Udupi: World heart day awareness by Hytech Hospital and Danvatari nursing college

Udupi, October 2015:  World heart day awareness by Hytech Hospital and Danvatari nursing college was held on 4th October 2015. World Heart Day falls on 29th of September 2015.

Every year 17.3 million people die of cardiovascular disease, 80% in the developing world. The World Heart Federation exists to prevent and control these diseases through awareness campaigns and action, promoting the exchange of information, ideas and science among those involved in cardiovascular care, advocating for disease prevention and control by promoting healthy diets, physical activity and tobacco free living at an individual, community and policy maker level.

The local awareness programme in large scale was organised by Danvatari college of nursing under the management of Hytech hospitals in association with JCI, Kallianpur and represented by JCI Kallianpura Santhekatte,   Rotary Kallianpura Santhekatte, ICYM Mount Rosary  Kallianpura Santhekatte,  Lions club of Kallianpura, Santhekatte.

Hundreds of health conscious young and old gathered early morning at 7.30 PM for a 8 KM long walk which was flagged off by Rotarian Alan Lewis, Assistant Governor along with Dr. Geetha Putran. Before the walk a warm welcome and word of appreciation to all the participants was given by the guest like Baskar Rajive Shetty, District Red Cross, Dr. Tom Devasia, Cardiologist, KMC, Manipal. Dr. Umesh Prabhu, Chairman, Danvantari College of Nursing, JCI President Arun Kumar, JCI Purandar Salian, Lions President Alfred Cornelio, Rotary Asst Governor Alan Lewis, Principal Danvatari School of Nursing Mrs. Pratibha, Secretar Uday Kumar, ICYM, Mout Rosary Secretary Aquin, Dr. S. N. Rao, Fr. Henry, Secretary, Bishop’s Office, Chandrakant Ward Corporate and many other guest took part in the event.

Students from locals institutions also joined the event which was compared by Mrs. Pratibha.
