DOHA : Monti Fest celebrated by Mangalore Cultural Association Doha Qatar with great pomp and glory

Doha Qatar Sept 25: Mangalore Cultural Association - Qatar celebrated Monti Fest with great splendor and grandeur on September 24, 2015 at the Indian Cultural Centre Doha.This is the Eight year of this pompous celebration .The program began with emcee, Mrs. Hema Fernandes hospitable welcome to the gathering. In order to seek the blessings of the Almighty on the auspicious program, MCA’’s Theme geeth (Song)sung by committee members and a prayer was recited by Mrs. Clara Dsouza.

The blessed corn (Noven) was served with the traditional Roce to the gathering. Ashleyn Almeida performed the prayer dance “Naman Karthavn Thuka’.

The chief guest and the Advisory Members, Mr. Felix Lobo Mr. Jerry Pinto and Mr. Joachim D’Souza were escorted to the stage by President, Arthur Pais and Vice President Aloysius Dsouza for a short stage program.

President of MCA Arthur Pais welcomed the gathering. He updated on the Associations service rendered to the poorest of the poor back home and also the planned programs for this year. He said that MCA was born for purpose of assisting the needy back home and for keeping live our mother tongue and our Culture in this part of the world. MCA has been successful in both these objectives of theirs. Further he announced that on the occasion of completing 7 glorious years an award has been instituted through which prominent Konkani artists Kala Puraskar on MCA Seva Puruskar - 2015 will be awarded to Joseph Crasta for his outstanding selfless service through his Snehalaya Orphanage Home for the Abandoned. The Award consists of Rs 1,00,000, a shawl, citation and a memento which will be conferred on him during the annual event in October this year.

Mr. Felix Lobo gave a brief on the Monti Fest and how it was started in Mangalore. He also spoke about the Associations work and assured the people that were contributed towards the Associations projects will not be wasted and will be used only for the good cause of assisting the poorest of the poor in their Education, Medical Aid and other basic needs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This year MCA revered its member’’s children who have academically excelled in the 8th, 9th and 11th standard exams as an encouragement to them. 10th, 12th and Bachelor’s degree Graduation examinations by obtaining over 75% overall marks for the academic year 2014-2015, A token of appreciation will also be given to the MCA Member’s children who have excelled in Grade 8th, 9th and 11th by securing over 75% overall marks were also appreciated to continue the practice that MCA had initiated in 2012. Students were honoured with their Parents by Advisory Members, Mr. Felix Lobo Mr. Jerry Pinto and Mr. Joachim D’Souza.

The cultural program began with ‘Jezuchi Avoi Mori’ by Carol D’Souza. This was followed by ‘Kinkule’ group dance performed by Anvil, Anria, Andrea, Joswin, Elston, Juvena and Dionna. ‘Amka Jikoya’ comedy skit performed by Sandeep and Joel spread the laughter among the audience. After this there was a spot game which was then followed by ‘Maria Pitashe’ dance by Vanessa Fernandes . Moinyachi Poili Tarik’ song was next in line performed by Alphonse D’Souza and team.

Anil, Joel and Aloysius played a comedy skit titled ‘Podlo Podli’. There was another spot game after this. Gladson presented couple of poem recitation. This was then followed by a group dance for the song ‘Neelya Gaganath’ by Ashlyn, Anushka, Calista, Delita and Jyothi.

Wilson Mendonca sang ‘Ho Mariya’. Merlyn D’Souza and Sandeep presented ‘Moryad kadli’ a comedy skit. V dance group children danced for the song ‘Ye Ya Ho’. Gulf Voice of Mangalore fame Rupert Lobo sang ‘Veronica’. Savious, Anil, Joel and Aloysious presented ‘Pisyanchi Aspatr’ a comedy skit. After this another comedy skit titled ‘Zago Dakoitha’ by Sandeep, Joel and Anil. Prameela and Eva sang ‘Mathyenth Fullolin Taran’.

After this the Fushion dance performed by Vanessa, Viola, Lara, Roque, Ethan, Savious, Anil, Sandeep, Jyothi, Brandon, Ruth, Reevan, Joshua and Melita rocked the audience. Rupert, Joel, Wilson and Ullas again entertained the gathering by singing exquisitely some Baila numbers.

The entire programme was well-compered in fluent Konkani by Hema Fernandes and makes feel the konkani people at home.Several Spot games were conducted and prizes were distributed by MCA Executive Committee. Vice President Aloysious Dsouza proposed the vote of thanks.

The chief guest of the program was Rev. Fr. Anand Castelino Spiritual director of Konkani Speaking Community of the Church of the Holy Rosary Qatar Bless the Dinner.

Earlier in the day, all members of the club gathered to prepare the Novem Jevaan, Roce, Vorn and the vegetables at Mr. Felix Lobo residence under the leadership of Miss Stephanie Lobo. More than 300 who packed the Indian Cultural Centre Doha were treated to a sumptuous Novem Jevaan Dinner. Roce, Sanna, Bendan, sango, gosalen, podvolen, karethen, koromb, chone, lonchem, Shith, and Vorn.

MCA Executive Committee thanks all volunteers who joined hands in the preparation of Novem Jevaan, all participants and all who supported in every way to make this program a success.
