Udupi : All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) of Milagres College unit jointly with Udupi District Konkani Sanghaton organized “Konkani Manyata Divas” at Milagres College Silver Jubilee Hall, Kallianpur near here on Tuesday, 18^th Aug. 2015.

During in his address Prof. Vincent Alva former member of Konkani Sahitya Academy, Anchor pointed out some of the drawbacks to popularity of Konkani language. He called to speak our mother language that is Konkani and also to read Konkani novels, magazines, articles etc., in order to keep Konkani language alive. Due to various reasons Konkani language would be in danger. But now the generation due to modernization we Konkani speaking people speak other languages could be accident.

Another guest Kamalaksha Sheth member of Konkani Sahitya Academy said that we have plenty of books in Konkani language, but not interested to read.

Dr. Nery Cornelio Principal of Milagres College presided the occasion and gave his presiding address. Radhika Patkar of RSB community, Karthik Nayak of GSB Community, Baikady Hussain, Louis Almeida,Shaila Fernandes,  Dr. Gerald Pinto of Konkani Sanghaton and Convener of the programme, Teena Machado convener of AICUF and Veenal Crasta President of AICUF Milagres college unit were present on the dais.

Werner D’Silva compered the programme. Risha D’Souza welcomed the gatherings and Joshua Quadros delivered vote of thanks.

Singing of Konkani  songs were held which compered by Rozaria Cardoza. AICUF members, staff members’ and others were present during the occasion.
