Print Kemmannu, August 15, 2015: Parishners joined at the church compound to celebrate the 69th Independence after the holy mass. Parish priest Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves presided over the function. Fr. Herald Pereira was present on the occasion. The day coincides with the Feast Assumption of Mother Mary.
Mr. Ronald Menezes, Vice President of the church welcomed the people who were present. Mr. Felix Pinto commanded the orders. Fr. Herald Pereira unfurled the National flag. Patriotic song ‘vande Mataaram’ was sung and everyone saluted the national flag with great respect.Fr. Herad delivered the speech appropriate for the occasion.
Simultaneously Catholic Sabha organized a ‘Prathibha Puraskar’ ceremony for the students who had excelled in the last academic year. Fr. Ferdinand and Fr. Herald along with Catholic Sabha President Mrs. Jyothi Lewis presented the shields to the winners. The trophies were sponsored by Mr. Vijay Saldanha in memory of his Uncle late Fr. J J Saldanha. And father Late Mr. Roque Saldanha.
