Udupi : A Councillor of the ruling party Prashanth Amin Kola protested against the Udupi Muncipal Council President Yuvaraj alleging discrimination in allocation of funds during the general Body meeting of Udupi City Muncipal meeting held on Saturday, 30^th May, 2015.

He submitted a memorandum to CMC Commissioner D. Manjunathayya that CMC President P. Yuvaraj had allocated lesser funds for the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) families for his Kola Ward. He alleges that the President allocated to his Subhramanya Nagar Ward who representing President allotted plenty of funds rather he even one paise not allotted Prashanth Amin representing the ward. Then the council meeting witnessed strange behavior of the both parties members and some members of opposition also in favour of Amin regarding the discrimination in allotment of funds.

Mr Yuvaraj said that Rs. 50 lakh had been allotted for the welfare of SC/ST families for Indrali Ward. He had sent a proposal thrice to the Deputy Commissioner on equal distribution of funds, but the proposal was not approved by the DC.

Regarding the parking problem in front of Kasturbha Hospital in Manipal Mr. Manjunathayya said that the problem had been solved and a new parking system would be put in place within a month.

To the question of Sumitha R. Nayak regarding the land acquisition for extension of Parkala Road, the Commissioner said that the money utilized for land acquisition amounting to Rs. 2.58 crore has been deposited back to CMC. The National Highway officials will widen the Parkala Road. Yuvaraj said that the Udupi Tirthahalli stretch which was earlier part of Malpe-Molkalmuru State High way had been handed over to the National Highway division. There was a long pending demand to widen the Parkala bottleneck Road which under this stretch.

The heated arguments witnessed during the question hour between Ramesh Kanchan, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Celine Karkada and others from ruling side and Dr. M. R. Pai, Vashanthi Shetty, Dinakar Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna and others from opposition.

At the end Commissioner D. Manjunathayya apologized members from his part for any mistakes done by him.

On the dais Yuvaraj presided the general body meeting, Kavitha Krishnamurthy Vice President and D. Manjunathayya were present.
