Print Mumbai May 03 :- Maharashtra C M - Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Anideep Eye Hospital in presence of Mumbai Mayor Snehal Amabekar, Uddhav Thackeray & Dr. Deepak Sawant at Vile Parle in Mumbai.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said 75 per cent of eye-related ailments can be treated, and raised concern over lack of awareness and adequate medical infrastructure.
"Medical science has made enormous progress and we should open the doors of the advancements made for the common man. Young medical practitioners should have the will for public service," Fadnavis said after inaugurating a private ’Anideep eye hospital’ in suburban Mumbai.
There can be no bigger blessing in life than to be blessed with vision. Providing vision to those without it is also a blessing, he said.
"Around 75 per cent of eye-related ailments can be treated, but there is lack of awareness and adequate infrastructure," he lamented.
The hospital, a dedicated hi-tech eyecare facility, is the brain child of vitreo-retinal surgeon Swapnesh Sawant, son of Maharashtra Health Minister Deepak Sawant.
"Considering that eyes are the God’s greatest gift to mankind, they need protection all our life," Swapnesh said.
The new facility provides a range of eye care services, including retina and lasik surgery, cataract and glaucoma treatment and paediatric eye care, he said.
Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, who was present on the occasion, stressed on the need to have best health care facilities in Mumbai.
Earlier, Fadnavis inaugurated a garden at Dadar in the memory of former BJP leader late Pramod Mahajan on the occasion of his death anniversary today.
The garden, spread over 10 acres, consists of lush lawns, a lotus pond, a covered prism-like structure to house smaller shrubs, a hillock lined with potted plants and a cafetaria. The garden was initially developed by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s sewerage operations (SO) department.
Fadnavis said the garden reflects late Mahajan’s pleasant personality.
