Print Controlled fire gets out of hand, creates panic at Mudalakatte, Kemmannu.
Kemmannu, April 15, 2015: With the advent of school holidays and IPL fever, a controlled fire set by youngsters in the field went horribly wrong at Mudalakatte Kemmannu. The fire spread like wild fire aided by dry grass and weeds which in turn threatened the houses nearby.
Panicked residents joined together and tried to douse the fire using the water. John Crasta, Santhan Lewis, Blen and Blencil along with the workers nearby brought the fire under control after toiling for nearly 3 hours.
With shrinking space for sports activities children find it hard to get playing fields and use the vacant fields as playgrounds in the summer. Since the majority of the fields and not used for agriculture, thick grass and weeds grow which in turn is a nuisance for children to prepare the ground.
