Udupi : Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur celebrated Elders Day and Parish Day near here on Sunday, 12^th April, 2015. The solemn mass celebrated at Milagres Cathedral by the chief celebrant Rev Fr. Chetan Lobo Capuchin, Editor of Uzvaad fortnightly and Head of Family Welfare Commission, Diocese of Udupi along with Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of Cathderal, Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha Asst. Parish Priest of Cathedral, Rev Fr. Denis Lobo Superior of Pilar Fathers Mini Seminary, Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado Vacational Director of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur.

During in his homily Fr. Chetan Lobo gave in regard to Devine Mercy. He said that the feast of Devine Mercy reminds us for many parables taught for Jesus emphasizing God’s Mercy. A day to turn to the Lord and plunge ourselves into infinite Ocean of His Mercy. Today is the day to immerse our family and friends into the Ocean of Mercy by our prayers. It’s a great day to be a Catholic and to begin fulfilling the promise of Council through our worship and witness.

At the end of the mass the Rector of the cathedral placed the Sunday announcements and wished all elders of our church.

After the mass, get together of our elders along with parishioners’ held at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall here. The program started with invocation prayer by our church choir team. Lilly D’Sa welcomed the gatherings on the dais. The chief guests present were Rev Fr. Chetan Lobo and Shirthady William Pinto noted lawyer & resource person, Janardhan Thonse President of Udupi Urban Development along with Fr. Stany Lobo, Fr Mahesh D’Souza, Fr. Rolwin Joy Aranha Parish pastoral council Vice President Walter Cyril Pinto and secretary Prof. Hilda D’Silva and  Parish Cultural committee officials were present on the dais.

Shirthady William Lobo briefed regarding the coming Grama Panchayat elections and survey on Social and Educational census. During the occasion recently retired primary teachers Smt Lilly Nazareth and Smt. Gretta Lewis of St. Joseph’s School, Cynthia Sequiera of Milagres English Medium School and Felciana D’Costa of LVP School, Puttur were felicitated by the dignitaries’ on the dais.

Meanwhile Janardhan Thonse noted politician of Kallianpur since three decades also felicitated during the occasion. Janardhan Thonse gave his brief address and thanked the parishioners’ for honouring him.

More than hundred elders of our parish had honored during the celebrations. Fr. Stany Lobo gave his presidential address. Fr. Chetan also spoke during the occasion.

Milagres Tri-centenary Hall newly constructed mess hall was blessed by the Vicar. Lunch was served to all the participants of the celebrations of Elders’ Day – 2015. Jesten Fernandes President of ICYM proposed vote of thanks and Dr. Nisha Rebello compered the program.
