Mumbai :Nation’s first all India Kannada journalists’ conference begins
Mumbai, Apr 12: Karnataka madhyama academy, Bengaluru, Karnataka rajya karyaniratha patrakarthara sangha Bengaluru and Kannada department of Mumbai university jointly held a three day conference of Kannada journalists at Hotel Dheeraj in Thane west on April 11. Saturday being the first day of the conference, it will continue till Monday.
Thane MLA Pratap Sarnaik lighted the traditional lamp and inaugurated the conference. He assured of his cooperation to the journalists.
Kannadiga patrakarthara sangha, Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palethady presided over the programme. Marati patrakar sangh, Mumbai president Devdas L Marate was the chief guest.








Reporters guild president and Karnataka state chief minister’s media coordinator K V Prabhakar, Karnataka state working journalists association, Bengaluru ex president Gangadhar Modaliyar, Mantralaya and Vidhi mandal varthahar sangha secretary Chandrakanth Shindhe, Media sports academy Maharashtra honourary chief secretary Kelvin Joshua, Vijaya Karnataka daily Mangaluru edition local editor U K Kumaranath, businessmen Bolyaguthu Vivek Shetty, M B Kukyan, K Bhojaraj Attur, Shivarama K Bhandary, N K Villava Navunda, K P Shekar L Shetty, Shiva Mudigere, Dr Sunitha M Shetty of patrakarthara sangha, advocate B Mohidin Mundkooru, Dr G N Upadhya, Suresh S Bhandary Kadandale, Jagannath Shetty and others were present as guests of honour.
Devdas Marate said that Kannada journalists are more hard working and influential than Marathi journalists who work from their own land.
Manohar Prasad said that the journalists association bridged the gap for communication between journalists and they too intend to hold similar conference in Mangaluru. He added that hasty journalism spoils the quality.
B Vivek Shetty said that journalists should use the wisdom and intelligence given by the Almighty with discretion.
’Journalists should always be students and not the ones giving orders.There is hard work behind the conference. So it has made me glad,’ said Chandrashekar Palethady in his speech.
Rons Bantwal in his introductory speech said "Journalism is a powerful medium. Journalists are engaged in the work of uniting the country. The aim of the conference is to make journalists hold discussions and exchange opinions among them. We intend to hold meetings with the chief ministers and governors of Karnataka and Maharashtra. The conference is important in strengthening the harmony. The sangha is indulged in maintaining the welfare of Kannadigas. ”
Executive committee member Sham M Hande welcomed. Vice president Daya Sagar Chowta gave a speech of intent. Honourary secretary Harish K Hejmady compered the programme. Joint secretary Premanath Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
More than two hundred journalists from all over the country including Dr P K Khandobha, Professor K Chennabasavappa, Laxmi Machina Belthangadi, B Ravindra Shetty, Srinivas Nayak Indaje and advocate Vasanth N Kalakoti were present.
