Manipal : The membership enrolment for Manipal Arogya Card Scheme was inguarurated by Dr. Vinod Bhat, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Manipal University on Tuesday, 7^th April, 2015 by issuing first card at the Launch Programme here at Manipal University here.

Giving details of the benefits of the scheme, Dr. Vinod Bhat said consultations with any specialist doctor any number of times during the year by paying only 50 percent of consultation fee is the most attractive among the outpatient benefits of the card. There is a 25 percent discount on diagnostics and laboratory investigations giving considerable relief to the patient and there will also be up to 10 percent  rebate on medicines purchased from hospital pharmacy with prescriptions.

He also said that the Arogya card was also useful for patients going any Manipal Hospitals. The Manipal Arogya card membership fee is Rs. 270 for an individual card and Rs. 550 for a family card. Family includes the card holder, spouse and all the dependent children below 25 years of age. An add on card is also available for the parents of primary card holders under the family card scheme 1 for Rs. 100 for one parent and Rs. 200 for Family card 2. For renewal card 10 percent discount on membership fee is offered.

Dr. Vinod Bhat presented the Dr. T. A. A. Pau Arogya Sevak Award 2015 to Shivamurthy from Shivmugga  and Mr. Jayaprakash Kamath from Mangalore for their work in the field of healthcare and for promoting the scheme. The top performing agents of Manipal Arogya card 2014 were honoured for their hard efforts by Dr. G. K. Prabhu, Registrar Manipal University and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Dean of KMC Manipal. Information Kit for Manipal Arogya Card 2015 was released by Dr. M. V. Prabhu, Dean KMC, Manipal.

Dr. (Col) M. Dayananda Medical Superintendent Kasturbha Hospital Manipal welcomed the gatherings. Dr. Anand Venugopal Medical Superintendent KMC, Mangalore proposed the vote of thanks. Krishna Prasad of KMC, Manipal compered the programme. Saghir Siddiqui, Unit Head, KMC, Hospitals, Mangalore, Dr. Avinash Shetty CMO, Dr. TMA Hospital, Karkala were present.

The membership enrolment which began today, will close on July 15, 2015. Applicants who enroll before May 20  will be entitled to 14 months of validity starting from June 1, to July 31, 2015. Other applicants who enroll from May 21 to July 25, 2015 can avail regular scheme from August 1, 2015 for one year.
