Udupi : A total of 2,349 enumerators will be taking part in the Social and Educational Survey in Udupi district from April 11 to 13 said Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District.

He was speaking at an interaction with the media persons in Udupi which was organized by Department of Information here on Monday. He said that these enumerators would work uner 390 supervisors. The enumerators had been told to visit the  houses from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the period so that they did not miss anyone. If the houses were locked, the enumerators would visit the houses again and again if necessary.

People should give collect information to the enumerators. But if people felt uncomfortable about any question or did not want to give information for any question they shall not be forced. There were 55 columns in the survey form. Meanwhile the details taken during the survey would be help the State Government to formulate targeted social welfare programmes. The survey due to the judgment in the Supreme. The State Government doing this survey will be first state in the country.

He also said that all data collected by the enumerators would be cross verified by nodal officers. All the data collected would be entered into computers. The information would be kept confidential. A pilot survey had been conducted at three places in Udupi district. The enumerators would not visit the houses already covered under the pilot survey. During the pilot survey, the response of the people to the exercise was positive.

During the interaction with the media persons present on the dais were Yogiswar Assistant Commissioner of Endowments, Rohini District Information officer, Jaykar Suvarna President and Ganesh Prasad Pandelu Secretary of District Working Journalists Association, Udupi District.
