Manipal : The foundation stone laying ceremony for Christ Church new building at Manipal held here on Thursday, 13^th November, 2014. Bishop of Udupi Diocese His Lordship Rt. Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo laid the foundation stone for the new Christ Church building. Ivan D’Souza Member of Legislative Council of Karnataka Government, Jerry Vincent Dais of Mandavi Builders & Promotors, Rev Fr. Francis Lewis Parish Priest of Christ Church Manipal, Pramila Fernandes Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council were also assisted to laid the foundation stone.

Brief ceremony  of the prayers  held prior to the blessing of foundation stone as well as the premises of the new church building. Rev Fr. Charles Saldanha Resident priest, Rev Fr. Mahesh D’souza Principal of Milagres English School, Kallianpur, Maxim D’Souza of Udupi, Joyce D’Souza Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Parish pastoral council members and parishioners, Engineers, contractors and others were present during the blessing of foundation stone as well as new church premises were present.

Followed by the Eucharistic mass led by Bishop along with Rev Fr. Francis Lewis, Rev Fr. Mahesh D’Souza and Rev Fr. Charles Saldanha held. Fr. Mahesh during in his homily said that Jesus came to the world to save us from the sins. We are followers of him to walk in his footsteps.

After the Eucharistic mass brief stage program was organized which Bishop presided. Ivan D’Souza MLC was the chief guest on the occasion. Birthday of Bishop was celebrated with the cutting of the cake along with other birthday boy. During in his message Ivan D’Souza said that he have long relation with the Fr. Francis and he know him better who very hard working nature. He will surely help to construct the new church building. He has been the leader of Christian community to serve the community better and put the pressure on the government for the development and welfare of the community.

Bishop gave his presiding address and wished to open new church building next year during Kingdom of Christ feast. He offered the parishioners to help whole heartedly to the new church building. It is building of the God. He knows the need of  his church and he will surely help to construct the building as well. We are all family of Jesus who works for the development of the church.

Rev Fr. Francis Lewis proposed vote of thanks while Pramila Fernandes compered the program. Cake distributed to all the participants during the end of the program. Large number of parishioners ‘ present during the occasion. Choir during the mass was superb and extraordinary which praised by Bishop and Parish Priest.
