Attack on Jacintha Fernandes - Protest by various Associations at Udupi

Udupi : Bharathiya Christian Sevadala, Shirva, Komu Sauhardha Vedike, International Federation of Karnataka Christian Association and other Associations organized protest against attack on Jacintha Fernandes of Bannanje held at Udupi Bus Stand near clock tower on Wednesday, 12th November, 2014. The attack on Jacintha Fernandes by Arun Kumar Project director of Nemmadi Kendra and his driver Hanumanthappa on Tuesday, 11th November.
During in his protest address Fr. William Martis said that one such government official attacking an poor women will be shameful incidence which not supposed to be. Due to culprits political gain police not arrested him neither his driver. Whoever it may be we should fight legally against the criminal act by the government official. Power and money useless when people’s support. We will not leave the case unless we get the justice in the case.
Jayan Malpe Dalit leader spoke very powerfully that he challenged the police the case of assaulting on the women. CCTV camaras installed in the Arun Kumar’s residence. Police can check the CCTV and find out the exact truth. He further said that Police not booked the case should polish the boot of the Arun Kumar. Police are sheltering the main culprit Arun Kumar and his driver.
Retired Professor of Milagres College Kallianpur said that attack on poor women should condemnable. Attack on Jacintha is an attack on democracy and Indian culture.
G. Rajashekar President of Komu Sauhardha Vedike, K. Paniraj and Shaila Fernandes also spoke during the protest. All the speakers condemned the incidence.
Charles Wesley Ambler Honourary President of BCS, David D’Souza, Melwyn D’Souza Vice President, Welfred D’Sa, Boniface D’Souza and other officials of Udupi Church Pastoral council and among others were present.
Louis Lobo welcomed and compered the occasion while Melwyn D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.

Slaps & Threat to Christian woman - Protest to be held on Wednesday
Udupi : Protest to be held on Wednesday, 12th November at Clock Tower, near Udupi Service Bus Station at 4.30pm against hit and threat for poor Christian woman on Monday at Udupi by politically backed Arun Kumar, Nemmadi Kendra Project Director, Udupi. Jacintha Fernandes has been undergoing treatment at Ajjarkad Government Hospital.
Christian Seva Dal, International Federation of Karnataka Christian Association, Komu Sauhardha Vedike and other Associations are organizing the protest at Udupi.
Jacintha is a resident of Bannanje near SP office, husband is bedridden and having two poor small children.


According the informations Jacintha had stored firewood in the barren land adjacent to Arun Kumar’s House. She noticed that Arun Kumar’s driver, Hanumanthappa, was throwing the firewood to park his car. When Jacintha stopped Hanumanthappa from throwing her firewood, he started to use foul language and allegedly assaulted her.
