Mangalore, Sep 5, 2014: Carmelites from Mangalore region celebrated the anniversary of CARMEL KIRAN - TV Program on Thursday, 4th Sept, 2014. V. Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore presided over the Eucharist at 10.30 am. Bishop in his well meditated and prepared homily appreciated the Carmelites for their creative and effective role in the evangelization. He said, "Evangelization is the duty and the responsibility of the local Bishop. And I am grateful to the Carmelites for shouldering this responsibility through the TV preaching."
After the Eucharist a small felicitation program was held during which Bishop honoured Mr. Richard Machado, who records the episodes. Fr. Joe Tauro, Superior thanked and Fr. Stephen Pereira compeered the entire program.
Carmel Kiran, produced by the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte - Mangalore is a half an hour TV program consists of the reflections on the daily Gospel, daily life of the Saints, Question answers related to Bible and religion, Papal Teaching and Catholic News Bulletin. Its being telecasted in the local channel DIVINE WORD and also available in www.divineword.in and Youtube - Carmel Kiran.
