Udupi : Stella Maris Church  Kalmady near here celebrated Annual Feast of Our Lady of Vailankani with tremendous devotion and fervor on Friday, 15^th August, 2014. Prior to the celebration of the Solemn Eucharistic High mass, Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo was warmly welcomed by Rev  Fr. Alban D’Souza Parish Priest of Kalmady Church and parish pastoral council officials by garlanding the Bishop.

Udupi Diocese Bishop Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo concelebrated mass with Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Chancellor of Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas Dean of Udupi Deanery, Rev Fr. Chetan Lobo Capuchin of Uzwaad Konkani weekly and other guest priests.

During in his homily Bishop said that there is link between Mother Mary and Holy Sacrament. The Immaculate Mother of God , the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her early life, was assumed body and soul into heaven. With that the ancient belief became catholic doctrine and the Assumption was declared a truth revealed by God. Mother Mary believed Jesus with every moment through Jesus first  miracle that change water into wine. Mother Mary remained faithful to Lord. Devoted family to Mother Mary where the presence of Lord prevailed.

The beautiful choir led by Leslie Aroza of Thottam with choir team of Kalmady church. There were Nine days Novenas held with different priests with more devotion for the grand festival. At the end of the mass the parish priest gave gratitude to all concerned during the preparation of the festival. He also thanked Bishop of Shimoga and Bishop of Udupi Diocese. The honoring candle’s given to donors of the celebration of the festival.

The souvenir “Daryacho Sukur” released by Shri. Vinay Kumar Sorake Minister in charge of Udupi District and Minister of Urban Development. Vinay Kumar Sorake gave his festival message. Later local MLA Madwaraj also visited the shrine and gave his message to the devotees.

The lunch was served to all the devotees who participated the festive mass. Around 6000 devotees were participated during the mass.
