Print Independence Day Celebration and ’Prathibha Puraskar’ at Kemmannu Church.
Kemmannu August 15: Parishioners joined at the church compound to celebrate the 68th Independence after the holy mass. Parish priest Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves presided over the function. Resident Priest Fr. Herald Pereira was present on the occasion.
The day coincides with the Feast Assumption of Mother Mary. Fr Ferdinand unfurled the National flag. Patriotic song ‘Jhanda oonch rehe hamara’ was sung and everyone saluted the national flag with great respect.Fr Ferdinand delivered the speech appropriate for the occasion.
Simultaneously Catholic Sabha organized a ‘Prathibha Puraskar’ ceremony for the students who had excelled in the last academic year. The Parish priest along with Catholic Sabha President Mr. Arun Fernandes presented the shields to the winners. The trophies were sponsored by Mr. Roque Saldanha in memory of his brother late Fr. J J Saldanha. Students who won the award are as follows:

Catholic Sabha President Mr. Arun Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Felix Pinto compereed the programme. The programme ended with sweets sponsored by Mrs. Felcy D’Souza who’s son Leslie celebrated his birthday today.
