By’ Annual Orientation Day by All-Mumbai Women’s Cell Members

The  by’ Annual Orientation Day was organized by the Women’s Commission of the Archdiocese of Bombay, at St. Joseph’s Convent Hall, Bandra, on 20th July, 2014  from 9 am to 1 pm under the leadership of Ms. Marcia D’Cunha, Executive Secretary of the Archdiocesan Commission for Women.

After the registration and breakfast, a warm welcome address was accorded by Ms. Dora Rego, Coordinator for the Andheri deanery. The members from the Bandra deanery sang the Women’s Anthem & also recited the Women’s Creed. A meaningful prayer service was led by Ms Priya Alphonso & the South Mumbai Team. An Ice-breaking session was conducted by Ms. Veera Davis. All the women were asked to form groups, and prepare towers with blown balloons. This required unity & team work.

Ms Lorraine Dsouza co-ordinated the Deanery reporting. All Deanery Co-ordinators & women excelling in special activities gave their reports and shared their success stories, i.e. Meera, from Andheri, explained that without formal education, she uses common sense and reaches to  the needy.  She educated a number of girls in her parish, Sacred Heart Church, Mahakali.

Ancella from Bandra, Merlyn & Augusta/Suzie from Bhayander, Veera from Borivili, Maureen from Kurla, Lorraine/Usha from Navi Mumbai, Diana from North Mumbai, Priya from South Mumbai & Sunita from Thane gave their reports and briefly explained the various activities of their Deaneries.

Ms. Candida from Malwani shared her experience and explained an easy way of fund collection within the vicinity for the cause of women and also applauded and appreciated the efforts put by men members of her parish (St. Anthony’s Parish, Malwani)  for celebrating the WOMEN’s day on 8th March, 2014.

Marcia explained various plans for the new year. Diana introduced the WAVE (We abhor violence everywhere). Marcia introduced the new CD presentation of Woman of substance and the High on life. Maureen presented a short skit for the Girl Child Day.  She also presented VOW, (Voice of Women) Magazine.

Ancella introduced Fr. Rocky Banz and Meera welcomed him with a floral bouquet.  Fr. Rocky congratulated all women and spoke about his special Project for the “Girl Child”.

Merlyn D’Sa Coordinator of Bhayander Deanery and Municipal Corporator of Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation gave the formal Vote of thanks.

Ancella compered this programme.  About 200 Women actively participated in this Orientation Programme.  At the end, delicious lunch boxes were served.

All the women felt challenged and inspired by such a wonderful programme and promised to actively participate in the cause of women.
