Puttur : The Inauguration and General Body Meeting of Parent-Teacher Association of the College for the year 2014-15 was held on 19-07-2014 at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall. Mr. Gangadhar Bellare, Counsellor, Scope Counselling Centre, Puttur who was present on the occasion as the Resource Person, spoke on the Academic Responsibilities of Parents in Students’ Life. By citing different examples, he brought out clearly that the behaviour the parents must possess and the language they speak at home in front of their children immensely influences, in turn, the behaviour and character of their children. He stressed that parents become “Metamodels” to their children.

            Very Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto, the correspondent of the college, inaugurated the PTA by lighting the lamp. He in his Presidential Address told that it is the Parents’ duty, to teach their children, good cultur. He also called the parents to contribute towards the architecture of good society.

            Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the Campus Director, who was present on the occasion, as the Guest of Honour, told that home is the first school for a child. He told the parents that extreme care must be taken to keep their children away from distractions like mobile phone etc.

            Mr. Vincent Menezes was re-elected unanimously as the President of PTA and he shared his feelings with the Parents. He told that in this competitive world, we must prepare our children to face challenges of life. We must teach children not only to score marks in the examination but also to improve upon their language, how to face interviews etc.

            Hastha R Aithal, Topper in Puttur Taluk and third Rank Holder in the State in Science in II PUC Annual Examination of 2014 (590 out of 600, 98.33%) along with Varsha V Kamath (582), Niya Anna James (582), Archana NR (580), Bhagyashree Herle (579), Fiona Crystal Mascarenhas (577) and Ramyashree (572) were honoured on the occassion. Mr. Rama Naik, Department of Kannada, read out the felicitation speech.

            The Principal of the College, Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, briefed about the activities and also his action plan for the year. Mr. Prashanth Bhat P., Department of Chemistry, Secretary of PTA welcomed the gathering. The Treasurer of PTA, Mr. Anil Kumar, Department of Computer Science, proposed vote of thanks. Sahana and other students prayed for the success of the programme. Mrs. Ashwini K., Department of Chemistry, introduced the Resource Person to the gathering. Mrs. Usha Yashwanth, Department of Kannada compeered the programme.
