Print Udupi: JEIH women’s protest against raps and demands capital punishments.
Udupi, July 20, 214: Capital punishments were demanded to the rapist with the state and central governments by the Jammat-e- Islami Hind, women unit of Udupi District. They were protesting here on 19th July near the clock tower, Udupi against the increase in rape cases and the crime related to women’s in this country.
Governments should act quickly to safeguard the safety of women’s, the protesters demanded. Ban the night shifts for women, imprisonment to mischief mongers, who physically abuse women in public places, install CCTV at railway station, bus stands and other busy places are some of the other demands placed by the protesters.
The protesters also argued to ban provocative dresses by women’s, banning prostitution and depicting women bad advertisements and movies, providing employment to prostitutes, discouraging and punishing living-in, multi-partner, gay/lesbian culture, banning pubs and bars which provide provocative setting for rape and abuses and allowing women the right to live without killing the girl foetus by the parents.
Many Women unit leaders like Samina Shukoor, Kulsum Abubakker, Farat Dawood were present during the protest which was led by Girls Islamic Organisation district president, Navida Kousar.
