Print Udupi, July 15, 214: Like every year, keeping in mind the green revolution, encourage farming society this year too Rotary Shankerpura conducted paddy transplanting competition. The competition was held on Monday, 14th July 2014, jointly with RCC Kunjargeri. A large wet land paddy field owned by Shri. Ravindra Rao near Bhanathirtha at Pajaka-Kshethra was selected. Out of thirteen participants, three ladies were declared winners. Cash prize amount was handed over to the first, second and third winners. Attractive household items as consolation prizes were distributed to all participants.
To witness this event, Rotary District 3180 Assistant Governor, Zone III, Rtn.M.G.Nagendra and the members Rotary Shankerpura were present. The owner of the field Shri.Ravindra Rao supervised the event with the cooperation from Shri.Prakash Bhat. They expressed their happiness to Rotarians of Rotary Shankerpura for their good work and encouragement to rural women.
The sponsor of the programme Mr.Canute Aranha distributed prizes. The welcome speech was by Rtn.Jerome Rodrigues, President of the Rotary Shankerpura and vote of thanks was by Club Secretary Rtn.Clifford D’Mello. The Presidnet of the RCC, Kunjargiri Ms. Saritha Harichadra and a big number of RCC members were present.
