Udupi : The Titular feast of Our Lady of Miracles celebrated at Milagres Cathedral with great devotion and fervor  at Kallianpur near here on Wednesday, 9^th July, 2014. The Solemn festival high mass celebrated by chief celebrant Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese along with Rector of Cathedral Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, Very Rev Fr. Anil D’Souza Dean of Kundapur Deanery, Very Rev Fr. Stany Tauro Dean of Shirva Varado, Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Chancellor of Diocese, Rev Dr. Leslie D’Souza Vicar of Pangala Church and with around twenty priests of the diocese.

During his homily Rev Dr. Leslie pointed out importance of family life through Mother Mary. Mother Mary fulfilled the wishes of God almighty. God not followed the lines of Mother Mary but Mother Mary followed the wishes of God. The reoccurring themes of purity, Chastity, love and compassion dominate the life of Mary, indeed she is the embodiment of these qualities. The family through Our Lady of Miracles is the centre, defense, taking  care, education and death.

Further he said that Mother Mary’s faith with God was strong. The foundation of all our confidence is found in the Our Lady of Miracles. For God has committed to Mother Mary the treasury of all good things, in order that everyone may know that through her are obtained every hope, every grace, and all Salvation. Mother Mary is the foundation of holy family. She has real and perfect follower of God and fully involved in God almighty.

At the end of the mass the Rector of the cathedral gave gratitude on the occasion of the titular feast. He gave thanks to Bishop, priests, choir group, parish pastoral members, convent sisters and all concerned. During the end of mass Bishop honored main firgent and sponsor of the feast with decorated candle to Juliet D’Silva wife of Gilbert D’Silva in favour of late A. J. D’Silva sons who firgent of the titular feast of Our Lady of Miracles since several years.

Winners of canaranews.com sponsored canaranews Bible quiz were distributed by Bishop at the end of the mass which names of the winners read by F.M.D’Souza. During the festive occasion Bishop gave his message and said that the faith with Mother Mary during earlier days should be remain in our families. He wished to all parishioners happy titular feast of Our Lady of Miracles. After the message Bishop with all devoted pilgrims prayed five Our Father in heaven, five Hail Mary’s and five Glory be to the Father, to get sufficient rain this year.

The choir during the festive mass was superb and extraordinary one with the great choir singers like Vinay Lewis, Prajoth D’Sa, Nelson, Daina and others headed by Rev Fr. Mahesh D’Souza as a brilliant choir master. Beautiful liturgical hymns, top singers, well trained key board master, wonderful atmosphere added excellent celebration of festive mass. The liturgy arranged excellent. Totally,  the festive mass ended with great devotion and fervor participated by fully packed cathedral devotees of Our Lady of Miracles.

Large number of devotees seen with greeting each other and some are indulged in lighting the candles in front of the historical Statue of Our Lady of Miracles. The brass Sunshine Parampally Band under Franky & group gave extra festive celebration before the mass as well as after the mass.
