Suttur (Mysuru): Minister for Women and Child Development Lakshmi Hebbalkar has said that 80% of women in rural India depend on agriculture for their livelihood.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating an agricultural seminar on Women in Agriculture: Sustainable Development and Food Security organised as part of the Suttur Jathra Mahotsava of Adi Jagadguru Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogga, the founder-chancellor of Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana.
In our country, women are actively involved in all aspects of agriculture. Not just agriculture, women are making their mark in every field.
The work of Maths is the inspiration for the government
The service work of the Maths who are helping the poor people through Akshara Dasoha and Anna Dasoha is an inspiration to the government. Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar said that whichever government comes, they will emulate the work of the Maths.

It is our monasteries that have given poor children the opportunity to learn by giving them Anna Dasoha and Gyan Dasoha together. Monasteries and religious institutions have been doing great work that the government could not do. Monasteries and religious institutions have been providing educational services parallel to the government. "We want to preserve our culture and traditions," he said.
JSS Math is giving a lot of emphasis on education. Students from different parts of the country are studying here, not just in Mysore. A socially committed organisation, JSS teaches Sanskrit along with alphabets and rice.
Ministers honoured
On the occasion, the Minister gave away awards to progressive farmers and progressive farmer women. Later, Crop Improvement, Crop Production, Crop Protection works were released.
Sri Subudhendra Swami of Ragavendra Swamy Mutt Mantralaya,  Sri Vidyavaridi Teertha Swami of Kanva Mutt, Hampi, were present. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, Ministers D.K. Prakash Patil, Shri. Krishna Murthy Manthar Gowda, D. Ravi Shankar, Ganesh Prasad, Vice-Chairman of the State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee Pushpa Amarnath, former MLA Geetha Mahadeva Prasad and others were present.
