Cops involved in 88 cases: Siddaramaiah
Kemmannu News Network, 17-01-2026 15:45:09
Bangalore, January 17 : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said it was an unpardonable crime to raise a fence and graze the field.
He was addressing the media after inaugurating the Annual Conference of Police Officers here today.

The police department is doing a good job in some areas and not so well in others. A total of 88 police personnel were involved in the operation. It is an unpardonable crime to be a grazer. Not only the state government, but the police department is also facing a bad name.
The number of crimes in the state has been declining since 2003. Kavithala police station in Raichur district has been ranked as the third best police station in the country.
Police should act stringently.
No crime can be committed without the knowledge of the police sub-inspector, ASP, DYSP, ACP. Police have been asked to be vigilant. Particularly vulnerable people should be protected. He said that they should not work like puppets.
If the police work with alertness and efficiency, the state can be made drug-free
Cases of murder, snatching, theft and violence against women are on the rise, but crime against women is on the decline. The government has decided to make Karnataka a drug-free state. If the police work with vigilance and efficiency, the state can be made drug-free. It can also protect young people.
Foreigners involved in drug trafficking should be sent to their country without hesitation.
If the state has to be made drug-free, then the network of drugs can be traced by interrogating the drug peddlers or interrogating the drug addicts. If the supplier is interrogated, it will be known who are the manufacturers and suppliers. All police stations have been asked to do this immediately. If the foreigner is released on bail and remains here, the chances of committing the same crime again are high. Therefore, the foreigners should be sent to their country without any hassle, he said.
Superintendents of Police should keep a watch on the police stations.
Superintendents of Police, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors of Police have been asked to keep a close watch on the situation. They should not be involved in crime.

Action sought against police for failing to detect drugs
If the Maharashtra police can come to Bengaluru and detect drugs, why can’t the state police do the same? The state police have failed to detect it and action has been taken against the concerned police, he said.
The law should be tightened for cybercrime and drug control.
The law needs to be tightened for cybercrime and drug control. A new law or amendment will have to be made in the coming days.
Replying to a media query on the IPL, the Chief Minister said that a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of D. Michael Cunha and a sub-committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Home Minister to follow his recommendations. They should implement the short-term recommendations immediately and follow the rest in the long-term. The recommendations should be implemented.
Ballari incident: Police take action against accused after probe report
The case has been handed over to the CID for investigation. Ballari is a sensitive area and the district police chief was not present at the spot. Action will be taken against the guilty after the inquiry report is available, he said.
Rajeev Gowda has been arrested.
Speaking on the issue of Congress leader Rajeev Gowda abusing the Shidlaghatta Municipal Commissioner, the Chief Minister said that he is absconding and will be arrested. Action should be taken against them as per law. "No one is above the law," he said.
