Barkur: The National Old Students Association’s  cultural initiative.

The National Old Students Association came forward with a commendable cultural initiative by presenting a beautiful blend of three short plays by the renowned theatre group “Kinnara Mela,” Tumari, directed by Mr KG Krishnamoorthy, at the National Auditorium today at 10.00 a.m.

Specially tailor-made for High School and PU students, the thoughtfully curated programme lasted about 75 minutes and proved to be both educative and engaging.

The mastermind behind the event, NHS teacher Mr. Prabhakar GP., himself an accomplished theatre artist and director, introduced the programme with a brief note on the performing team led by Mr. Arun. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of the Old Students Association, Mr. S. Karunakar Shetty, who, in his message, wished the team great success. He also thanked Mrs. Jyothi Shetty, Treasurer, Headmistress Mrs. Hemavathy P.S., and others for making the necessary arrangements.

What followed was a seamless and captivating flow of performances, featuring short plays by the celebrated playwright Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kambara. The plays powerfully highlighted the urgent need for conservation of nature, forests and trees, inspiring the young audience to work towards handing over a healthy and sustainable planet to future generations.

The three plays—Iddilu Maharaja, Bidirina Kudure, and Atmahatye—successfully ignited curiosity, reflection and environmental awareness among the students.

The programme was graced by the presence of Mr. Gopala Naik, Vice President Mr. Krishna Hebbar, Treasurer of The Barkur Educational Society, Mr. Archibald Furtado,  Administrative Coordinator of the National Group of Educational Institutions, Principal Mrs. Usha Kiran Shetty and her colleagues, Headmaster of Hanehalli Primary School Mr. Udaya Shetty, along with High School teachers and other dignitaries.

Concluding the programme, Mr. Prabhakar G.P. expressed his heartfelt thanks to the performers, organisers and the attentive audience for their wholehearted support.

In his brief but meaningful message, Mr. Archibald Furtado evaluated the performance and urged everyone to carry home the powerful lesson of nurturing plants and trees, reminding us that they too have life and deserve our love, care and protection.

The programme stood out as a perfect blend of art, education and environmental consciousness, leaving a lasting impression on all present.
