Bengaluru : Minister for Women and Child Development Lakshmi Hebbalkar has said that a decision will be taken in consultation with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the payment of gratuity to all Anganwadi workers and helpers who have retired since 2011-12.

Speaking at the Freedom Park in Bengaluru, where the Sanyuktha Sangharsh Samiti and Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association are staging a protest demanding payment of gratuity to all retired Anganwadi workers and helpers since 2011-12, he said a delegation would meet the Chief Minister in this regard soon.

Due to the negligence of some officials in the department, gratuity has been implemented from 2023 instead of 2011. This problem will be resolved soon. "We have already had 3-4 rounds of talks with the finance ministry. Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar assured that the issue will be resolved in consultation with the Chief Minister.

On the occasion of 50 years of Anganwadi in Karnataka, a grand event is being organized in Bengaluru on November 19. He urged everyone to attend the programme and make it a success.

On this occasion, Mahesh Babu, Director of Women and Child Development Department, Minister’s Special Duty Officer B.H. Nischal, Karnataka State Anganwadi Employees Maha Mandal President G.R. Sivashankar, General Secretary B. Nagaratnamma, AIUTUC President B. Amjad, General Secretary M. Jayamma, AIUTC President K. Somasekhar Yadagiri, General Secretary M. Umadevi and hundreds of other people of the organization were present.
