Awareness Session for PU Students at National PU College, Barkur

An enlightening Awareness Session for the students of National PU College, Barkur, was held on Thursday, 30th October 2025, in the college auditorium. The session aimed at guiding the young minds through various challenges of adolescence and modern-day distractions.

The resource person for the day was Prof. Anil Danthi, former Professor and Head of the Department of MSW, Milagres College, Kallianpur, a well-known counsellor and motivational speaker. The three-hour programme was thoughtfully structured — the first hour (10:00 to 11:00 a.m.) was a joint session for both first and second-year students, followed by separate interactive sessions for girls and boys, with a short break in between.

The formal stage programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Sawmya, Lecturer in Biology, who also served as the emcee of the event. The guest of honour, Prof. Anil Danthi, was florally welcomed by Mr. Archibald Furtado, Admin Coordinator of the National Group of Educational Institutions. A brief introduction of the guest was presented by Ms. Sawmya.

Mrs. Jyothi, Lecturer in Kannada, offered roses to Mr. Furtado and Mrs. Usha Kiran Shetty, the Principal of National PU College, as a token of respect. The Secretary of the Management, Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, also graced the occasion with his presence, expressing his appreciation for the enthusiasm shown by the students and staff.

In his lively and thought-provoking address, Prof. Danthi captivated an audience of nearly 200 students with his trademark blend of humour and heartfelt insights. His talk covered vital topics such as adolescence, infatuation, mobile addiction, self-discipline, and effective study methods. His separate sessions for boys and girls resonated deeply, offering practical advice on coping with teenage emotions, peer influence, and responsible technology use.

The session, a part of Jyyana Deevige series, concluded around 1:00 p.m., following a brief feedback segment from the participants. In a gesture of gratitude, Principal Mrs. Usha Kiran Shetty presented a memento to Prof. Anil Danthi, appreciating his valuable time and service to the institution.

The awareness programme proved to be an inspiring and insightful experience, leaving a lasting impression on the students and faculty alike.
