City Deanery Jeevan Disha Camp 2025 — guiding young minds to discover their purpose in faith and life.

The City Deanery Jeevan Disha Camp 2025, organized for the students of Grade 8, was held on Sunday, October 5, at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor. The one-day camp brought together 237 children from 11 parishes, accompanied by 13 dedicated animators, making it a vibrant gathering of over 250 participants filled with enthusiasm and youthful energy.

The day began with a warm welcome by the compere, Mr Pradeep Misquith, who set an engaging tone for the programme. On the dais were Rev. Fr Jeevan Lobo- Asst Parish Priest Vamanjoor Parish ; Sr. Mareeta; Mrs Linet D’Souza; and Mrs Cynthia Rangal.

The dignitaries were welcomed with flowers by students representing different parishes, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp—a symbol of enlightenment and the formal inauguration of the camp. The ceremony was followed by an opening prayer led by Rev. Fr Jeevan Lobo, accompanied by a melodious hymn.
In his inaugural address, Rev. Fr Jeevan Lobo highlighted the importance and purpose of the Jeevan Disha Camp, explaining how it helps children discover their path in life through faith and values. To energize the participants, Fr Jeevan led the group in lively action songs, creating an atmosphere of joy and participation.

The first session was conducted by Ms Melrida Rodrigues, Lecturer at Srinivas Medical College, who was welcomed with a rose by one of the students. She spoke about good and bad habits, emphasizing how positive habits shape one’s faith, discipline, and growth. Through engaging examples, she encouraged students to cultivate habits that lead to a purposeful and faith-filled life.
The next session was led by Mrs Jonita Rasquinha from Derebail, an IT professional, who spoke on the topic “Beautiful Mind: Positive Thinking and Growth.” She elaborated on the 4 Cs — Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity, motivating the young participants to think positively and use these skills for personal and spiritual development.

The third session was animated by Mr Francis D’Souza and Mrs Precilla Deena Sequeira, both engineers and members of the Missionary Families for Chirst (MFC), who spoke on “Celebrating the Spring of Life.” They inspired the students to set SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—encouraging them to dream big and stay grounded in faith and values.

The Eucharistic Celebration was solemnly offered by Rev. Fr Jeevan Lobo. In his inspiring homily, he used imaginary yet meaningful examples, comparing faith to Wi-Fi, a candle, and a key—explaining that just as Wi-Fi keeps us connected, faith keeps us constantly linked to God; like a candle, faith brings light and clarity even in the darkest moments; and like a key, faith unlocks the doors of grace, peace, and divine blessings when we truly trust and believe in God’s plan..

A special session by Mrs Rikitha Pais, psychologist, focused on “Keys to Increasing Happiness and Mental Well-being.” She emphasized self-awareness, gratitude, and emotional balance as essential tools for adolescent growth and a healthy mindset. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, she encouraged the children to express their emotions freely, build confidence, and nurture positive relationships with family and friends. Mrs. Rikitha also highlighted the importance of taking short breaks from technology, maintaining a healthy routine, and turning to prayer and reflection as sources of inner peace. Her session inspired the young participants to look within, appreciate life’s blessings, and face challenges with hope and positivity.

Post-lunch, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement as fun-filled games were organized by Mr Pradeep Misquith and Mrs Meena Barboza, promoting teamwork and friendship among the students.
Later, a few students shared their camp experiences, expressing joy and gratitude for the enriching sessions and the opportunities to make new friends. Teachers Mrs Lynet D’Souza and Mrs Cynthia Rangal also shared their reflections, appreciating the organizers and encouraging the children to live what they had learned.

V.Rev. Fr James D’Souza, Vicar Forane & Family Commission Director of the City Deanery & addressed the gathering, urging the students to apply the values and lessons learned in their daily lives. He emphasized that such camps help young minds build a path of faith and moral strength, and he expressed his deep appreciation to the organizers and animators for their dedicated efforts in making the camp a grand success.

Mrs. Anitha Concesso from Fermai delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all resource persons, volunteers, and participants. The camp concluded with a Thanksgiving Hymn, followed by a delightful ice cream treat, leaving the children with smiles, cherished memories, and renewed inspirationThe City Deanery Jeevan Disha Camp 2025 was truly a memorable and faith-enriching experience, fostering learning, joy, and spiritual growth among the young participants.
