"Milagres College Hosts Productive Parents-Teachers Meeting to Enhance Collaboration"

Milagres College, Kallianpur, organized its Parents-Teachers Meeting to strengthen the bond between parents and faculty members. The program commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Shalet Mathias, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). On this occasion, the college felicitated two distinguished individuals: Prof. Dr. Jayaram Shettigar, retired faculty member of the Department of History during the academic year 2025–26, and Mr. Dinesh Bovi, a B.A. student of the 2020–23 batch, who successfully completed a 300-kilometre environmental awareness walk to Ladakh and returned after 303 days carrying the message of environmental conservation.

Dinesh expressed heartfelt gratitude to Principal Dr. Vincent Alva for his constant guidance and encouragement. He also thanked alumni Mr. Alwin Lewis and entrepreneur Mr. Jayaprakash Shetty for their support. Dinesh, accompanied by his parents, stood as an example of the strong family backing that fosters students’ academic, cultural, and sports achievements.

The chief guest of the program, Mr. Anil D. Kumar, Sub-Inspector of Malpe Police Station, sensitized the parents about the growing threats of cybercrime and drug abuse among students. He explained that today’s police force functions in a people-friendly manner, responding promptly to complaints and taking proactive measures to curb crime. He urged the audience to report any suspicious or criminal activities without fear and to remain vigilant against online scams, digital arrests, and fraudulent mobile applications. He emphasized that if such incidents occur, victims should contact the Central Cyber Crime helpline (1930) within the first hour to register complaints.

Presiding over the meeting, Principal Dr. Vincent Alva stressed the importance of holding at least three such gatherings annually to understand students’ academic performance and strengthen the partnership between parents and teachers. He noted that students possess multiple interests and talents beyond academics and encouraged parents to inform faculty about such talents to help shape their children’s future development.

Mrs. Radhika Patkar, Secretary of the Parents-Teachers Association, presented the previous meeting’s report and the association’s financial statements. The event was compered by Mr. Ravinandan Bhat, and Ms. Aditi, Lecturer in the BCA Department, proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering stronger bonds and awareness among stakeholders.
