Milagres College Celebrates NSS Day with Enthusiasm and Social Responsibility

Milagres College, Kallianpur, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), celebrated National Service Scheme (NSS) Day with great enthusiasm on September 24, 2025, in the Audio Visual Hall of the college. The event, organized by the NSS units of the college, highlighted the spirit of service and social responsibility among students. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Sudheer Shetty Malyadi, a noted social worker and President of Rotary Club, Thekkatte, Udupi, who inspired the students with his words on community service, leadership, and the importance of contributing to society with his social service experiences and examples. He emphasized that even a small contribution can make a significant positive difference in society.

The principal of the college gave presidential remarks during the program, highlighting that NSS means learning discipline, values, and ethics in life. He appreciated the students for their initiative in the ’Udugejyothi’ cloth donation program and their interaction with old-age orphanages, encouraging them to learn valuable life lessons from these experiences.

The program featured a range of activities under the theme "Not Me But You," reflecting the core values of NSS. Highlights included the release of the ’Udugejyothi’ YouTube video, showcasing the efforts of the NSS unit, and a cloth donation drive for orphanages, demonstrating the students’ commitment to social causes. Additionally, management games and cultural programs were organized to engage students and enhance their skills in teamwork, leadership, and creativity.

During the program, NSS Jersey were distributed to the newly joined NSS volunteers of the 2025-26 batch, welcoming them to the NSS family and marking the beginning of their journey in serving society. The event was coordinated by NSS Officers Mr. Ganesh Nayak and Mrs. Shubhalatha, with notable attendees including Mr. Manjunath Shetty, social worker, Mrs. Radhika Patkar, and Mrs. Chaithra from the Department of Commerce, along with other teaching and administrative staff. This celebration reflects Milagres College’s commitment to nurturing responsible and compassionate individuals who are willing to make a difference in society.
