India has taught yoga to the world: Laxmi R Hebbalkar

Udupi, June 21: The whole world has adopted India’s health system. Everyone should practice yoga. Laxmi R. Hebbalkar, Minister for Women and Child Development, Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, and district in-charge, said yoga should be practiced for at least 30 minutes every day.
She was speaking after inaugurating the International Yoga Day programme jointly organised by District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of AYUSH, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Udupi and Dr. G. Shankar Government Women’s First Grade College and Post Graduate Study Centre, Ajjarkadu, Udupi at Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium, Ajjarkad.
Yoga relaxes the mind. I have been practicing yoga for 25 years. Yoga is behind my ability to work 15 hours a day. I had an accident on January 14, I couldn’t do yoga today due to back pain."
I do yoga five days a week. Yoga is a must in today’s world. I used to do 25 to 50 Surya Namaskars every day. Bhujangasana, Veerabhadrasana, Pranayama are the secrets of my health, said Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar.
Udupi district stood second in SSLC and first in PUC. Everyone should respect the culture and traditions of the country. Parents are our children. Our children are also our parents, she said.
Yoga is not just exercise, it’s a way of life. Our Prime Minister Modi has taught the world the importance of Yoga.
MLA Yashpal A Suvarna said that by adopting yoga in lifestyle, one can lead a healthy life. There is no cost to do yoga. The modern lifestyle puts a lot of stress on the human body and mind. Yoga is the only way to get rid of it.
MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty said, Yoga should be a part of everyone’s lifestyle. Yoga helps to get rid of many health problems. He said in recent times, the practice of Yoga has assumed greater importance in the world and people in many countries have adopted it in their lives.
ZP Chief Executive Officer Pratik Bayal, DFO Ganapathy, students and others were present.
District Health Officer Dr. Satish Acharya welcomed the gathering and Roshan Kumar Shetty, assistant director, department of youth empowerment and sports, compered the programme. Dr. Hemalatha delivered vote of thanks.
