Udupi, June 16: Kishore Kumar Kundapur, outgoing District president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has expressed his displeasure over the change of the district president of the BJP at a function held at the BJP district office today.

Kishore Kumar Kundapur, who refused to hand over the charge to the new BJP district president Kuthyar Naveen Shetty and rejected to accept the felicitation, openly expressed his pain and deception. The reason for the discontent is that the term of the BJP district president is three years, but Kishore Kumar Kundapur has been changed to one year and four months.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Kishore Kumar said that caste and money matters are discussed while selecting candidates for elections. But is this all that is required when appointing a district president? Party is more important than the person. When I was the district president, the BJP won the Lok Sabha and the Vidhan Parishad elections. The programmes given by the party were done with utmost loyalty and honesty without sending any false report to the state. But I didn’t know what was troubled from me.

Kishore Kumar said that “I did not know that I would be elected as the BJP district president. Others have tried. But I haven’t tried for the district president post. I worked as a district president for a year and four months. But after eight months as president, rumors began to spread about my presidency. As soon as I heard this, I convened a meeting of the District Office bearers of the party. If you feel that I want to continue in this position I said, "I have no objection if you make an effort”.

At 7.30 pm I received a call from the Secretary General of the State. He said he would replace you with the position of President. He said he would not appoint lawmakers for that position. After I took myself, I told me that no matter who you did, I did not need it. Asked when he would do the president, he said he would do the night. But when I put down the phone and watch WhatsApp, the president has made a change. Kishore Kumar questioned why this should be cheated.

“It is very painful when everyone calls and tells you that you have removed from the presidency. There are some wrong messages about me as they have been changed before the period. I have not cheated anyone, none of the money. There are plenty of expenses since I became president. I have spent so much money by hand. I never asked the money from anyone. I will not be able to show maximum loyalty and honesty," he said.

No felicitation to the outgoing president. I won’t accept that. There is no transfer of power. Power has been taken away from me. So this is not a transfer of power. If I hand over power which is not with me, it will send a wrong message. Therefore, the power will be handed over by the party’s state general secretary, said Kishore Kumar Kundapur.

BJP state general secretary Sunil Kumar handed over the party flag to the new district president. The outgoing president was standing with his hands tied behind his back. BJP leader Uday Kumar Shetty was also present on the occasion. Kishore Kumar refused to accept honor from Uday Kumar Shetty. As soon as the programme was over, Kishore Kumar did not stop for the next programme and left the BJP shawl from his shoulders over the table.

I recently went to Shikaripur. The president spoke very well. In the end, it turned out that the president spoke in a good way. In my one year and four month tenure, it has only been eight months that I have said loudly that I am the district president. The rest was a waste of my time. I have a world outside of politics. The world is bigger than politics. I know how to grow. I know how to be there, Kishore Kumar Kundapur said.

MLA Sunil Kumar, State General Secretary said that it is common to get a little disappointment while handing over power. There is nothing wrong with the party system. It needs to be changed from time to time. If there is something wrong, it will be corrected.

Earlier Kidiyoor Udaykumar Shetty spoke introduction talk on the district BJP. After the felicitation, incoming president Kuthyar Naveen Shetty spoke during the occasion and asked the BJP workers to cooperate with him to make strong BJP in the district.
