Udupi: Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (Reg), a non-governmental organisation working for the environmental, industrial and cultural development of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, conducted its annual study visit to Trasi in Udupi district. The committee also visited the Maravanthe beach on June 9 and conducted an on-site inspection.

The committee visited the sea and river banks in Koderi port area of Kirimanjeshwara village in Byndoor taluk and held discussions with the locals and heard their grievances regarding the sea and river erosion problems.

The Koderi area is a left-hand side and sea-crossing area with a small port used by the local people and is affected by sea erosion. Today, the people of the environment had dug their own pit.

The sea, which was once more than 500 meters away from the shore, is now less than 200 meters away. The shoreline has been swallowed up year after year and most of the embankment is yet to be constructed. Ramesh Kharvi, a local fisherman, explained to the committee that although contracts have been awarded many times, the barrier will be built in a limited area.

Similarly, the banks of the Left Stream, which runs parallel to the sea, have been breached, he said.

Jayakrishna Shetty, the founder of Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti, assured the people of the environment that we will urge the government to be aware of this by inspecting the entire environment from afternoon to evening.

ಉಡುಪಿ: ಅವಿಭಜಿತ ದಕ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪರಿಸರ,ಉದ್ಯಮ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕ್ರತಿಕ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗೆ ಪಣತೊಟ್ಟು ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಸರಕಾರೇತರ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಸೇವಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಜಯಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರೇಮಿ ಸಮಿತಿ(ರಿ) ತನ್ನ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ  ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಭೇಟಿ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ತ್ರಾಸಿ .ಮರವಂತೆ ಬೀಚ್ ನ ಕಡಲ್ಕೊರೆತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಜೂನ್ 9 ರಂದು ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿತು.

ಬೈಂದೂರು ತಾಲೂಕು ಕಿರಿಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಕೊಡೇರಿ ಬಂದರು ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ  ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ನದಿ ದಂಡೆಗೆ ಸಮಿತಿ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರ ಜೊತೆ ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಕಡಲು ಮತ್ತು ನದಿ ಕೊರೆತ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅವರ ಅಹವಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸಿತು.

ಕೊಡೇರಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಎಡಮಾವಿನ ಹೊಳೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮುದ್ರ ಕೂಡು ಪ್ರದೇಶವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಜನತೆ ಬಳಸುವ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಬಂದರೂ ಇದ್ದು ಕಡಲ್ಕೊರೆತ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿಂದ ಬಾಧಿತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ಪರಿಸರದ ಜನ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಳಲನ್ನು ತೋಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಳಲನ್ನು ತೋಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.

ಒಂದೊಮ್ಮೆ ದಡದಿಂದ 5೦೦ ಮೀಟರ್ ಗೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ದೂರವಿದ್ದ ಸಮುದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ 2೦0 ಮೀಟರ್ ಗೂ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಅಂತರವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ವರ್ಷಾವರ್ಷ ಕಡಲು ತಟವನ್ನು ನುಂಗುತ್ತಲೆ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದು ದಂಡೆಯ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ತಡೆಗೋಡೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಬಾಕಿ ಇದೆ. ಹಲವು ಬಾರಿ ಕಾಂಟ್ರಾಕ್ಟ್ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಸೀಮಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಷ್ಟೆ ಬಂಡೆಹಾಸಿನ ತಡೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಮತ್ಸ್ಯೋದ್ಯಮಿ‌ ರಮೇಶ್ ಖಾರ್ವಿ ಸಮಿತಿ ಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.

ಇದೇ ರೀತಿ ಸಮುದ್ರ ಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನಾಂತರ ವಾಗಿ ಬಹಳ ದೂರ ಸಾಗುವ ಎಡಮಾವಿನ ಹೊಳೆಯ ದಂಡೆಗಳು ನದಿಕೊರೆತಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾಗಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.

ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದಿಂದ ಸಂಜೆವರೆಗೆ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಪರಿಸರವನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಸರಕಾರ ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತರಂತೆ ನಾವು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರೇಮಿ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಜಯಕೃಷ್ಣ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಪರಿಸರದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು.
