Print Udupi, June 11: The selection of two girls from the same class to the international platform in Japan is a wonderful inspiration for the country’s Nari Shakti in realising gender equality and a hand-winding to the achievement of quality education in government schools, Dr. K Vidyakumari said.
She was speaking at his office in Rajathadri, Manipal, today, while congratulating Nikita and Amulya, high school students of Government Pre-University College Kukkuje in Karkala taluk of the district, who were selected for the International Science Conference to be held in Japan from June 15 to 21, as winners in the national level category of the INSPIRE Award competition conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The inventions of flood detector pole and ropometer presented under the guidance of Suresh Marakala, a national award-winning social educator of the school, have won the national level INSPIRE competition, making Kukkuje High School the first school in the country to have two girls from the same class selected for an international conference in Japan in the INSPIRE Award competition.
Deputy Director of School Education D.S. Ashok Kamath, subject observer of the Department of Public Instruction Nagaraj K, teachers Suresh Marakala, Amulya and Nikita’s parents were present.
The two girls will represent India in Japan in a team of 54 students from across the country.
